Kessie is a recurring character in the Winnie the Pooh franchise. She is a bluebird, and is usually either a child or an adolescent, though her age varies from appearance to appearance. Plucky, curious, and adventurous, Kessie seeks to discover as much about the world as she can, but always returns to her Hundred Acre Wood friends, whom she treats as family.

As a hatchling, Kessie was taken for a wild ride when an errant winter breeze sent both her and her nest careening into the air. Rabbit, taking pity on the young orphan, rescued her from falling and took her into his home, where he raised her as if she were his own daughter. Before long, Kessie grew up, and her instincts began to compell her to fly south for the winter; but Rabbit, having grown attached to her, forbade her from learning to fly. Kessie figured it out, however, and went on to use her flight to save Rabbit's life. This saddened Rabbit, however, who feared he would lose the one he was closest to. Eventually, however, Rabbit was able to accept Kessie's wishes; and though she did leave the Hundred Acre Wood, she never forgot her adoptive father, and returned to visit in the years to come.

Unlike the other members of Disney's adaptation of A.A. Milne's series, Kessie has never had a consistent characterization; and as such, her voice changes in every new property in which she appears. Her debut appearance was in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh episode "Find Her, Keep Her," in which she was voiced (as both a baby and an adolescent) by Laura Mooney. She would reappear in the episode "A Bird in the Hand," this time as an adult, where Tracy Rowe took over. The compilation movie Seasons of Giving saw Kessie return in a brief cameo at the very end, this time with the voice of Amber Hood. Most recently, Kessie was a main character on The Book of Pooh, where Muppeteer Stephanie D'Abruzzo handled both the puppetry and voice for the young bird.
