Special thanks to NCZ for additional sound clips.
EDITOR'S OPINIONObviously Carrie Fisher has portrayed the character the most times when you factor in live-action appearances and parodies, so she definitely has experience with the character. She makes a great on-camera Leia, but you can hear her inexperience in voice-over in the Holiday Special.
In Star Wars: X-Wing, an Unknown Voice Actress plays Leia. Due to the nature of the video game, Leia doesn't get much dialogue, and unfortunately, I find her voice to be a little bland and masculine sounding.
Joyce Kurtz voices Leia in several video games. Joyce sounds enough like Carrie to be a passable substitute voice.
Next on the docket is Catherine Taber (who is also known for being one of the main voices of Padme). It's a good voice, but it doesn't really say "Princess Leia" to me.
Lisa Fuson voices Leia in the Masters of Teras Kasi video game, as well as The Empire Strikes Out. Lisa has a very commanding voice, which is good, given her role in the Lego special. But much like Catherine, it doesn't sound like Carrie.
For The Yoda Chronicles and Droid Tales, Heather Doerksen takes over the role. Heather's particular Leia is much more sassy than other versions of Leia. But I also find her voice to be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes it sounds a lot like Carrie, and other times...not so much.
This is a nice change of pace for April Winchell, who is usually cast as overbearing, loud-mouthed female characters. Not much to say about April's voice - it's passable.
Anna Graves voices Leia in Disney Infinity 3.0. Anna's voice is pretty subdued and lacks the commanding tone that other actresses gave her. It's a good voice overall, but again, not one of my favourites.
For EA's Star Wars: Battlefront, Misty Lee takes over the role. This is probably the best Carrie-replacement of the bunch, in my opinion. Misty can hit the highs, she can hit the lows, she manages to get a lot of range while maintaining her Carrie-like voice.
My vote goes to Misty.
