The President is a supporting character in some Sonic material. In Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, he is portrayed as a thin, slim man with a gleaming admiration towards Sonic and Shadow. In the OVA, he is seen as an overweight helpless leader who entrusts Sonic to help him, unknowingly played by Robotnik. In Sonic X, he is portrayed as a leader who stands for his country, yet is regularly played into Dr. Eggman's hands.
Happy President's Day, everyone! We're taking a look at the most important character that isn't the main Sonic cast, the President! Before starting, this is solely based on each portrayal of the president in each piece of media, so bear that in mind.
Edwin Neal - Starting us off, is Edwin. He does a fine job at sounding goofy and nervous, but that's really the problem in my eyes. He does a good job at being goofy, but I can't really take the man at all seriously as the president. I can't buy him being the leader of South Island, or a leader in general.
Steve Brodie - He has this grit tone that I love in his short time as the president, but the acting overall feels rather wooden. Still, not a bad performance.
Ted Lewis - Ted unfortunately had been saddled with a president who's basically a boring pile in the anime. His performance isn't at all memorable, and I've already forgotten it by the end of this critique.
Maddie Blaustein - While the voice isn't the first thing I'd picture as the president, I think Maddie pulls off the type of president who wistfully regrets failing his country, yet wanting to keep the nation in one piece against outside forces.
Whoever you vote, it's your opinion and I respect it, but my vote goes to Maddie being the best candidate for our President. Steve as the vice president, Edwin for first lady, and Ted as the former president.
