Ernie

Comparison of the voice actors who have been the voice of Ernie with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Sesame Street

Ernie is a little orange dude who shares a home with his buddy Bert. Ernie is a typical little brother, always eager to make something fun out of everything. He loves to unwind by taking bubble baths with his beloved rubber ducky.

EDITOR'S OPINION

What I love about Jim Henson is that unlike Elmo, for example, he doesn't literally imitate a kid's voice to play Ernie. But the tone of his voice is careful and nuanced enough that he still effortlessly conveys that Ernie is a kid. Steve Whitmire doesn't really go for a Jim Henson impression, in fact it's basically just his Kermit. But getting to hear Kermit's voice as a more relaxed, less uptight-worrywart figure, is actually pretty refreshing. Peter Linz is actually the best as a Jim Henson impression, and I think with time he can tighten it into his own. Much like Matt Vogel as Big Bird, I think he's leaving a good impression so far.
