EDITOR'S OPINION

Up until his passing, The Count had been portrayed exclusively by Jerry Nelson. What can I say? Another iconic Muppet performance that is instantly recognizable and historic.

After Jerry's passing, Matt Vogel stepped up to the plate (the vocal plate, that is). What I find interesting about Matt's is that he seems to add a lot more of the stereotypical "Lugosi-esque" or "Transylvanian" accent into his performance, really playing up the classic film vampire angle.

Jerry gets my vote, but Matt is a perfect replacement.

Big ol' thanks to Ghosty404 for the clips!

Ah ah ah!

Jerry Nelson's Lugosi voice, energy, and movement is an absolute classic for the Count. The man really did teach the world how to count. The Count was always my favorite role from him, and I really miss Jerry..

Matt Vogel doesn't really go for a Jerry impression, and goes more for his own interpretation of the Count. He really delivers the Transylvanian accent, and the energy is similar to what Jerry did in his prime. He's a great replacement, and with time he'll grow into them.

Funny how he's gotten Kermit, Big Bird, and the Count. Really huge shoes to fill for the three of them.

Oh hey Har Har Har math vampire feeling Har Har Har?

That's not one of the best replacement so far... Jerry Nelson by far for the distinct Har Har Har.

Both are good. Jerry Nelson was the one and only Count.

I'm surprised nobody's said it yet:

Matt's performance is literally just Constantine. (I know it's technically a different accent, but come on, how far apart are Russian and Transylvanian, really?) I don't hear the Count at all in that.

Think it's obvious who I'm voting for. ;)

@CerealBoxHead46 I know it seems like I don't like Matt much, but I actually really like most of his work as a performer. His Jerry Nelson impression is usually incredible, and his Big Bird rocks; but I have a hard time getting into his Kermit and Count. He may get better as them as time goes on; I just don't like how he sounds as them right now.

I feel like I sound like a broken record at this point with the original performers, but I can't not talk about how classic Jerry is in the role. His mannerisms, the accent, the energy he brought to the character, it has made the character one of the most iconic characters to come from the Jim Henson workshop.

Matt seems to be doing more of his own thing while adding a few things from Jerry's performance, and while he doesn't sound like Jerry that much, he's really good in the role and sounds like he's having a lot of fun.

This one goes to Jerry Nelson. My favourite role of his. His performance as the Count is super iconic.

Matt Vogel is a great replacement.
