Scrappy-Doo

Comparison of the voice actors who have been the voice of Scrappy-Doo with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Scooby-Doo

Scrappy-Doo is Scooby-Doo's nephew and was introduced to the franchise in 1979 in,The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show.  Scrappy-Doo often replaced Fred, Daphne and sometime even Velma in the gang.  Since he was paired with Scooby and Shaggy, Scrappy often served as the brains of the group whether he it was with merit or by accident.  He also was the brave one of the group and his energetic nature would often find him acting first and sorting it out later.  Scrappy was part of five different television series during the 80s as well as three animated movies. After 1988 we went 14 years without hearing from the diminuitive pup until he made an appearance in the 2002 live action film.

EDITOR'S OPINION

First of all, let me just say that Scrappy-Doo is one of my least favorite characters in this franchise. I realize he was needed in order to replace the other gang members but in my opinion they should have never written the other three out of some of those series. I would much rather watch and listen to Fred, Daphne and Velma than ever have to hear Scrappy say 'PUPPY POWER!!' again.

That being said the choice for me as my favorite Scrappy voice is easy.  In this case the old phrase holds true, the original is the best.  I think Lennie Weinrib nailed this character and he made the character a little less annoying than his successors did.  Don Messick is a legend and Scott Innes is a great voice imitator but Weinrib gets my vote.

1st: Weinrib, 2nd: Messick, 3rd: Innes
