Sailor Moon, also known as Usagi Tsukino, is the main character of the mega hit series Sailor Moon. She can sometimes be a lazy school girl who's always late for class or a whiny cry baby, but she can also be very sweet and heroic as well, though she does struggle to get used to her new found powers. She is also very loyal to her friends, Tuxedo Mask and Chibiusa, and will bravely fight evil when those she cares about are on the line.
When the original edited English version from DiC and Optimum Productions premiered in 1995, "Serena" was first voiced by Tracey Moore, who played the role for the first 11 episodes, before leaving to focus more on her theater workandwas officially phased out of the character by episode 22 after returning to voice the role for episodes 15 and 21. However, she did remain a member of the show's overall talent pool and notably voiced one of the Doom and Gloom Girls in episode 40. A few of the Sailor Says segments she recorded during her run were also recycled for the second season.
Tracey Moore's replacement was Terri Hawkes, who was introduced to the role in episode 12, and was officially phased in the character by episode 22. She played the role for the rest of Season 1, as well as Season 2 (Sailor Moon R), and all 3 movies.
However, Hawkes went on maternity leave when production of Season 3 began, and declined to reprise her role.
Hawkes's replacement was Linda Ballentyne, who voiced the role for the last two seasons of the English run (Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS).
Sailor Moon's singing voice was supplied by Jennifer Cihi for Kid Rhino Records. Cihi was asked to imitate Terri Hawkes' Sailor Moon voice as best she could because all the songs for the series were recorded in Los Angeles, wheres the actual dialogue was recorded in Toronto
In Sailor Moon Crystal and the uncut redub of the original anime franchise from Viz Media and Studiopolis, Usagi/Sailor Moon is voiced by Stephanie Sheh.
