Great Goblin

Comparison of the voice actors who have been the voice of Great Goblin with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Lord of the Rings

The Great Goblin is an immense monarch who rules over a town of smaller Goblins inside the Misty Mountains. The Great Goblin attempts to have Bilbo and his group imprisoned and tortured for carrying a blade that has slain numerous Goblins, but is killed by Gandalf before he can do so.

EDITOR'S OPINION

The Great Goblin, to me, is a character whose vocal performance should convey both brutish beastliness and regal authority, and in my opinion, neither performance is a totally perfect fit due to each actor getting one aspect down while neglecting the other. Stephenson captures the rough, creaturely quality nicely but doesn't make the character sound kingly enough, and Humphries sounds authorative enough for a monarch but barely adds any inhuman quality to the voice. While I'm not a huge fan of recycling voices in voice-acting, a voice similar to what Humphries used for Bruce in Finding Nemo would've given him more of an edge here. Anyway, if somebody put a gun to my head and forced me to pick one, I might have to go with Humphries here.
