Sogo Okita is the 1st Division Captain of the Shinsengumi. A bonafide sadist, nothing Okita does is good natured. His blunt and violent nature comes through in his clashes with Kagura or his constant attempts to usurp Toshiro Hijikata of his Vice Chief position. When he's not fighting or scheming, he's often aloof and lazy. Even though these are not traits one would want in a police officer, Okita is protective of those he cares for, especially the commander of the Shinsengumi Isao Kondo.
