Rock n Roll

Comparison of the voice actors who have been the voice of Rock n Roll with sound clips and images.
Franchise: G.I. Joe

Rock n Roll is the code name for Craig S. McConnel, a Sergeant and later Staff Sergeant for the G.I. Joe forces. He was known as a surfer, a musician and a weight lifter and worked with the Joes as an infantry specialist. Introduced as a toy before he appeared in either comics or on television, Rock n Roll would find most of his exposure in the pages of the comics. He was only featured in 36 of the Sunbow episodes but would also later appear in the DIC series. Rock n Roll's voice was usually given a 'surfer' sound in the Sunbow series but that same sound was seemingly absent in the DIC series.

Rock n Roll only had speaking roles in 6 of the Sunbow Episodes in which Frank Welker and Will Ryan seemingly switched on and off as far as who provided the voice. Frank Welker provided the voice in 3 episodes; "Jungle Trap" (1985), "Duel in the Devil's Cauldron" (1983) and "Slave of the Cobra Master" (1983).

Will Ryan also provided the voice in three episodes; "The Synthoid Conspiracy: Part 1 & Part 2" (1985), "Cold Slither" (1985) and in the 5-part episode entitled "Revenge of the Cobra" (1984).

Neither Welker nor Ryan would reprise the roll of Rock n Roll in the DIC series. Instead, Kevin Conway took on the job.
