Comparison of the voice actors who have been the voice of Katana with sound clips and images.
Franchise: DC Universe

Katana is a character from DC Comics whom has both been a antagonist and a protagonist whose Comic Book debut was in The Brave and the Bold #200 from July of 1983. Katana's real name is Tatsu Yamashiro whom was once a normal Japanese girl whom is a skilled Martial Artist. However due to tragic incidents regarding her past (which differ depending on the origin story) she took up the sword "Soultaker" which would take the souls of anything it kills and allows Katana to communicate with aforementioned souls as well. Katana is normally known as a member of the Outsiders but she has been affiliated with DC Comics Super-Heroine team Birds of Prey as well before.

Today on the DC Universe VC section we have a little something for this sword-wielding and soul-stealing lady from the Outsiders... KATANA! So far Katana has only had a speaking role in Batman Brave and the Bold but had a different VA in those 2 episodes. In the first episode Katana appeared in "Enter the Outsiders" voiced by Vyvan Pham. While Katana had plenty of screen-time in the episode she was mainly the "Strong and Silent" type until near the end of the episode (in which keep in mind this clip has all of Katana's dialogue in that episode). Still Vyvan does pretty well with what little she got here as her performance as Katana does have a calm and serious tone which is rather fitting for her in this episode and its a pretty good example of the voice work in the series.

In the 2nd episode Katana appeared in which was "Inside the Outsiders" Kim Mai Guest gets to take over the role here. I was initially surprised on how Kim's voice for the role was different from Vyvan's but this is a good example on how this is not always a bad thing as this episode does play the fact that Katana is Japanese by giving her a Japanese accent in which Kim does it fairly well. Kim plays the role of Katana as a more tragic character and gives a suitably dramatic performance which works pretty well with this show's version of Katana's origin story and is a fine example of Kim's work. Overall I liked both performances here I admit I am thinking of giving Kim the edge but both of these ladies did pretty well here.
