EDITOR'S OPINIONRobert David Hall: A good voice for the role. It was high much like Grey Matter's which fits since that's what the show implies how that species talks. Robert also fits how Azmuth was disgusted with the universe and willing to let it be destroyed but when he saw Ben defend it Robert did well with making Azmuth seem surprised by his kindness. Another good example of the series' voice work.
Jeff Bennet: I want to start by saying this was a nice change of pace for Jeff, he sounded wise and had a mentor feel to him and I don't remember the last time Jeff got a character like that. Plus Jeff added age to Azmuth which is something we didn't get from Robert. That said, Jeff's voice was WAY too deep. And while it wasn't Jeff's fault, the writing would sometimes be inconstant with Azmuth's personality, sometimes being too "grumpy old man". So while a good voice and performance from Jeff, maybe a bit of a mascast. (Isn't it weird with how over casted Dee was, he wasn't the choice for Azmuth? I mean, he has practice with characters with higher voices like this. Eh, Go figure.)
Rene Auberjonois: Rene seemed to be a mix of Jeff's and Robert's. He mixed Jeff's wisdom and age with Robert's personality and does well with some caring scenes. It does seem at first they tried to higher Rene's voice but later dropped it, which is a bit of a shame since I think Azmuth's species needs a higher voice. Still, Rene does very well in the role.
In the end, while I like Robert's voice as a typical Grey Matter I think Rene has more qualities that fit the character better (even if I still think he should had have a higher voice). Again, Jeff's not bad but it's hard to get use to that voice for this character.
My vote goes for Rene
