EDITOR'S OPINION

Alright folks its been a while but here is a VC for Akira and this time its for one of the Resistance members... SHIMAZAKI! First of all yes Shimazaki is a fairly minor character in which one of his most prominent aspects is that he actually has a name (unlike the Mustachioed Resistance Member whom looked like Ryu). Anyways in the Streamline dub of the movie he was voiced by the late Tony Pope in which it is fairly lukewarm with me. I can understand the idea of giving Shimazaki a higher but rougher voice but it sounds more nasally than rough. Tony's work for the role is not REALLY bad though but I do think that his voice was a little too nasally.

In the Pioneer/Geneon dub of the movie he was voiced by Robert Axelrod whom was a bit more of an improvement. The reason why I would say that is simply because Robert's voice sounded more scratchy than nasal. (Which makes sense since Shimazaki is a guy with a fairly high voice that as you can see here is quite the smoker.) Granted its still nothing special in general but its a good example of Robert's work. Overall neither performance is really all that memorable but Robert is the better one of the two here.
