Ah of course. The game that came out during Sega's 'edgy phase' that most teens go through.

Can't believe I used to like this game. And man, the voice acting in this was terrible. The only good voices were Mike Pollock's Dr. Eggman and Sean Schemmel's Black Doom. Sean has some range.

The first game with 4Kids' cast in it, since Sega decided they wanted to put the Sonic X Anime voices in the games (not a good decision, in my opinion), and it's a mixed bag at best.

Shadow's voice is probably the most tolerable change of the main cast (thankfully since he's the main character), but it still lacked the emotion David Humphrey had, and is too stoic when it needs emotion. Amy's is decent, but too nasally at times. Maria's is good, actually, surprisingly solid coming from Rebecca Honig. Black Doom sounds like Sean is straining his throat to do the voice: it's a good performance, though. Knuckles' voice is better than I remember it being: I sort of wish Dan Green had stuck with this voice, rather than deepening it later, though Scott Dreier still fit the role more to me. GUN Commander is obviously Marc Thompson, but it works. Espio's voice is probably the only one I'd argue is an improvement, but still, Bill Corkery was improving his performance by Heroes so it's hard to say that for certain here. Charmy's voice is OK, but it's way too similar to 4Kids' Max's from Pokemon, only higher pitched and more forced. E-123 Omega's voice is good, but Jon St. Jon fit the part better.

Everyone else...jarring changes. J. Griff's Sonic does his trademark overemphasis on words so it's impossible to take anything he says seriously, Tails goes from sounding like a boy to sounding like a girl with a sore throat, Gerald Robotnik's voice is better than in Sonic X but still doesn't hold a candle to Marc Biagi, and Vector's voice change is so downright terrible, it makes Charmy & Espio sound alright in comparison. Rouge is perhaps the worst of the group- way too seductive and sultry, also sounding too old to boot, though a lot of people have said what I think of it on the voice compare: this portrayal also helped devolve the character into fan service as time passed, too. Most people liked Mike Pollock as Eggman from the start, but I'm hearing that weird overemphasis on words J. Griff's Sonic often gets criticized for having (which it does): at this time, I think Deem Bristow's take outclassed his take.

Can't believe I'm on time here. Happy 11th anniversary, Shadow. You know what they say: THE MORE THE MERRIER. THIS IS WHO I AM.

I'm sorry, but I think the voice acting is really annoying to listen to.
It got especially annoying when I just wanted to play the levels and then characters would bicker about how I need to do a certain task when I just wanted to blow things up.
Also, fun trivia: It took Sean Schemmel 14 hours to get him to get Black Doom's voice down right. Ouch!

I thought this was a pretty decent game. However, I don't really like the multiple story lines that you have to complete in order to actually complete the entire game. It is a little much to do.

Not to mention that in order to get all of the stories, you have to play the game multiple times afterwards and you pretty much get bored with it after playing it over 5 times.

Now that was stupid of me, I posted this before I had even played the game (I guess I really enjoy a lot of games that I think I'm gonna enjoy them before I olay them). Well I bought a pre owned copy about 2/3 years ago, can't remember exactly because I have a lot of stuff, I haven't got through some of my games. An example would be Rayman Origins that I got back in 2011, yeah that's pretty bad.

Anyway, I thought the idea of having different story lines was stupid. I only completed one story & then decided, nah not continuing. It wasn't even that good an ending. Well the writing for Sonic games has never been that good but I have seen better from them compared to this. None of the levels I completed are memorable, the weapons are nothing special, Shadow goes a bit too fast at times & the story itself was pure boring. I think I agree with that comment posted by Mrguy22594.

I will however, give credit to the 4Kids cast since the voice acting was decent. That's the probably the only good thing about this game (in my opinion that is).

When this game was first announced, I thought it was an April Fool's joke. I rented this game a few weeks after it's release, and I never picked it up again. I thought the controls were terrible, especially when Shadow ran fast. The guns didn't left an impression on me, and I didn't bother with the vehicles. I also didn't like how you were suppose to get 10 different endings to get the last story, and then find out the rest of the endings weren't cannon. But what I didn't understand, and this is the worst of all in my opinion, why they needed to make a dark, apocalyptic, serious story about a cartoon hedgehog. And it didn't make sense to me that an evil immortal alien is Shadow's biological father, who is a hedgehog. And as a fan of the character I hate what they did to him in this game, I'm sorry but I just hate what they did to Shadow. I know he is the anti-hero who is suppose to be badass, but he was fine in Adventure 2; he was already a badass anti-hero in his own right without the need to swear, or use guns, that's why he was so popular when he died and people wanted him back. All in all, Shadow the Hedgehog just left a bad taste in my mouth, and I hope they don't approach to the dark apocalyptic idea again.

The first time I played this game I made up different combinations and wanted to see the outcome of Shadow's future. Some of them made me say, "Holy crud! Did he kill Eggman?" or I said, "How the heck did that happen?" Sometimes when I was playing through each level of the game I was often confused because at one level he has no idea what the ARK was and the next level he knows all about it! Hmmm...maybe Shadow is psychic or something... (Laugh) Oh well, the graphics for the CG cutscenes were pretty detailed for a game made in 2005, but the gameplay graphics could've been a little more detailed (but that really depends on what kind of software they are using to create the game with) and maybe they could have put more weapons and tactics in the 2P mode! I was pretty much hooked on this game for about six months when I bought it, but then I bought Secret Rings when it came out.

Anyway, I still think this game was overall OK, despite some the conflicting story lines and somewhat poor graphics. It totally shows how violent and how independent that short, black hedgehog can be...with or without a gun!

I always sticked to the Hero Side whenever I played this game.
But I enjoyed playing it though. ^_^

I played either all the way evil all the way good or all the way neutral... but in any case this game was OK sometimes.

I agree I liked the game too...It's not that Sonic games have been bad these past years it's just that some needed more improvment and transformation in order to make it better I liked Shadow because it had a different variety of elements I'll admit there's a bit too much Replay value in order to maintain the final story, some veichles needed to be in other enviroments (Levels) despite those things I liked this game and it does bring back memories I like the change in levels and the story and I liked the voice acting too so I'm with you too NCZ :D
