 1 Shout Out!
As a person who enjoyed Xiaolin Showdown this was overall a poor followup to that series filled with bad writing and new characters who were so painfully mediocre.

Oh and the CGI stuff wouldn't have looked out of place on a PS2 or Gamecube game.

Granted being a Canadian produced show they pretty much had to re-cast almost everyone aside from Tara Strong (which was pure luck anyways) and some of the impressions like Clay are almost bang-on so overall it's okay in terms of voice acting.

Too bad everything else lets them down, it's not hard to see why Disney XD quickly pulled the plug on this one.

Something I'm curious about is why Master Fung was recast. His second voice actor in the original show, Maurice LaMarche, is also a dual citizen like Tara Strong and Jennifer Hale, who got to reprise their roles.

This has been treaded before, but I'll try and explain it a bit better. Basically the reason for the voice change for "Chronicles" is pretty much the same reason the Westwood Dub of "Dragon Ball Z" eps 123-291 exists. Canadian broadcasting mandates require a certain amount of Canadian content. This show being made in Canada alone was apparently not enough, there had to be a Canadian voice cast, as such, all the voice actors are Canadian natives (though most active in the US). Tara being a Canadian voice in the original series just happened to be by luck. Were she not, Omi would've been recast too.

It's pretty patronizing. I like how Adam from YourMovieSucks describes it; it's basically like saying, "if we give you the choice between watching Canadian content and American content, you're obviously going to choose American so we have to control what you watch".

I can see why this didn't do well it not only didn't bring back the original cast but showed no respect for what came before and the writing wasn't as strong

Omi and his friends in this animated show all have horrible Canadian accents.

"horrible Canadian accents"

said at 9:16 AM on Mon Mar 14 2016
@NCZ They're so horrible that I like them! I think that they're good for an Ocean Group anime dub.

A.) You wanna unpack this for us?
B.) What exactly about Canadians speaking is horrible?
C.) What on Earth does an Ocean Group anime dub have to do with this?
said at 12:12 PM on Mon Mar 14 2016
@TylerMirage I can explain to you: Wow! Voices of this animated show are so amazing that they would fit an Ocean Group anime dub. Do you understand me now?

@VoteForSirAtlas I...guess I understand what you're saying?

Doesn't mean you're making any sense, though, since most of your points are irrelevant, random and inconsequential.

@TylerMirage Thanks. But, in any case, my wish is to hear Xiaolin Chronicles' voices in an Ocean Group anime dub.

@VoteForSirAtlas I don't know if the word "horrible" means what you think it means.

Yeah, I'm guessing this show ain't getting a second season. Disney isn't even going to air the rest of season one. (Which doesn't bother me because I haven't even seen the show.)

The ratings were pretty low to be frank.

In case he's never given due credit, who played Tubbimura (from what little I've seen he has spoken by himself at least once)?

I'd wager Bauza first, then Donovan, and then Kaye.

WoW, they use the same actors for everybody..... This show will probably be over after a season. Then again..... Ultimate Spiderman is still on.

@Dark_Fiction It is getting another season :/

@Dark_Fiction Speaking as a Littlest Pet Shop viewer, I don't see any problem with using a limited pool of actors, especially if you can get a lot of mileage out of their ranges. And considering these particular actors, I doubt it's much of an issue.

@CatsTuxedo I will say the one good thing about the show is they use their actors range well.

I kept watching episodes, hoping to see this get better over time but I've sadly come to realize this isn't the case. It's just so...stupid. There isn't anything else to describe it, it's just a badly done series. In the first episodes I accepted some changes since I thought it was a sequel and I figured "hey we get to see the next chapter in their lives" but making it a re-quell makes their adventures seem pointless.
If I wasn't the one updating this, I'd probably stop watching cold turkey

It's very weird that they cast US-residing Canadians to replace (most of) the original voice actors. Usually when they want to do this, they just move voice production to Canada itself.
said at 12:20 AM on Sun Oct 27 2013
@PurpleWarrior13 They probably didn't want the whole recasting thing to be too jarring by having voice recording be recorded in an entirely different territory, which would be just silly considering Tara Strong's the only possible reprisal to come from this scenario anyway. They probably should've just done what Hasbro did with My Little Pony and have Tara voice her role from LA while the rest of the voices are recorded in Vancouver or something.

I'm surprised they didn't have Maurice LaMarche reprise Master Fung, seeing as how he's also Canadian. Not that I mind Michael Donovan's performance, as he does give a good performance for what it's worth.

Man, as much as I like all of these actors, it's kind of disheartening seeing all of these characters recasted.

Still, I'll give this show a chance if I ever see it.

@Metabad Look at the bright side, Omi wasn't recasted.

I don't like they tried impressions, come on its Canidian actors you can get them to do their own thing. Samuel Vincent as Raimundo is what I expected, he can do a Spanish accent and do Rai's personality. Same with like I dunno Scott McNeil as Clay.
The impressions feel like impressions but I think they can only get better, I'm sure later episodes the actors will get use to the characters more

That said, I think of all the stand ins, Micheal, Cree and David are the stand outs (so far)
said at 12:27 AM on Thu Sep 5 2013
@Music Meister The voice acting is still recorded in Los Angeles, so they obviously can't get the likes of Vincent or McNeil on board, as much as I'd like to see more of their work.
said at 8:22 PM on Mon Sep 2 2013
I do think some of the choices range from bad, to good. Cree Summer as Wuya was a perfect choice I think and Eric Bauza did great at parts as Jack and not as good at other times, and Michael Donovan did a surprisingly good Dojo (But I still don't get why he's yellow) and Master Fung

So...what's up with Raimundo's chin, and why isn't he the leader anymore?
Music Meister (Moderator)
said at 11:45 PM on Sat Oct 26 2013
@GothamRed I can finally answer that question.
*Spoiler BTW*
At the end of XS, Rai was Show-Ku or whatever it is spelled but if you listen to Kimiko's and Omi's clip they say "Sho-Ku" as well which could mean they are now on the same level as Rai thus he wouldn't be the leader.
Or bad writing.
said at 11:59 PM on Sat Oct 26 2013
@Music Meister He was still declared the leader, and they said only one of them could reach that level. So yeah bad writing.

@LordofEvil96 The new cast isn't really all that bad. But Raimundo new voice is petty bad though.

@WWEFAN12ization Yeah this isn't the best example of Eric Bauza's work. His Jack isn't great either, he just doesn't have the right energy.

The immitators lack the charm of the originals, and the writing is blahh, animation is ok but the CGi fights are poop, and the whole "different names due to WB owning them" thing is completely silly

@thomwim He was probably more expensive than the others for whatever reason, unavailable, or no longer has citizenship. It could be a number of things.
