According to an interview, the creators of this show toyed with the idea of a Spider-Man 2099.

I honestly would have preferred if they had made a 2099 cartoon instead of this.

Rino is basically a perfect choice for Spidey 2099.

@TheDayman So the reason this show didn't use the traditional Spider-Man and villain designs is because it was made by Saban, and Sony had spider-man's television rights and the time so Saban couldn't adapt the comic storylines or costumes.

I recently finnished watching this show for the first time in my life and I don't think that it deserves its reputation as one of the worst Marvel cartoons. Don't get me wrong, the show isn't good, but it isn't unwatchable either. It is just horribly average. Maybe I'm just more forgiving, because I made myself sit through the second season of The Incredible Hulk cartoon ("Fashion Warriors" alone is much worse than the entirety of SMU *shudders*) before I binged this.

I think that the biggest problem of this show is that it wants to have its cake and eat it too. It puts Peter Parker to a very unusual situation, but still wants to have the classic drama of him trying to balance normal life with being a superhero (they even had a poor man's Jameson buing pictures of Spider-Man from him). But that doesn't work when his is stranded on alien planet run by evil dictator. At that point anyone would just forget trying to have a normal life and would try to get home and/or overthrow the dictator 24/7. It also makes sense that Spidey wants to be neutral and tries to stay out of the conflict between the rebels and High Evolutionary. Considering his guilt complex and the whole "with great power comes great responsibility" - mantra, I don't think he could ever turn his back on people who need his help.

@The Doctor Dang it! Meant to say that Spidey trying to be neutral doesn't make sense.

I actually enjoyed this series love the premise of the show and the animation look like it came straight out of a comic book plus Rino Romano was great as Spidey to bad it didn't have another season and still better than Ultimate Spiderman

OK, now that I found the RIGHT page:

I honestly really like the concept this was going for, not retelling the same story over & over again but instead trying to expand it, but its execution was lacking. Still, Rino Romano got to make a name for himself as Spiderman at the time, so I found it cool for that alone.

@WrightWay That and he's the only voice actor to ever voice both Batman and Spiderman.

Correct, my friend: I have to say it was very impressive Rino had that kind of range. I'd like to hear more from him in the future.

@WrightWay Perhaps as Rodimus Prime/ Hot Shot?

That would actually be a great role for Rino Romano to take a crack at (IMO), nice choice!

I felt like this show had a really interesting concept and some great performances here and there, but unfortunately the poor writing kind of bogged it down quite a bit. Still, I would love for another show to revisit the idea of Spider-man venturing through alternate dimensions. The idea is too unique to go to waste.

@Metabad Maybe it could be revisited in a Sequel Comic Miniseries?

This is one of those series where you just think "why this" when watching. It's just so out there and odd espically when you throw in Spiderman into it.

I've only seen the 1st episode of this series & i'm glad I haven't seen any more. All the things I heard about how bad this series is just put me off. Should have been Animated Series Season 6 instead as that would have been so much better.

@CLG I can't tell if he's an eel or some monster/human hybrid.

I haven't seen the show, so I don't know for sure.
