Seen the Season 2 premiere and it appears that Kris Zimmerman is now longer voice-directing the show (probably left to focus on other projects) and Collette Sunderman (who is the ADR director) has now taken her place.

@RetroPokeFan A pity. I personally think Kris Zimmerman Salter is a better Voice director than Sunderman.

I wasn't that impressed by Sunderman's work on Ultimate Spider-Man TBH.

@GreenGoblin75 I wish Mary Elizabeth McGlynn would be do Voice direction for some of Marvel's Animated shows.

She worked on the Dub for Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers, so I think she deserves another Opportunity on a Marvel Project (and one that is easily accessible outside of Streaming sites).

Honestly, I enjoyed this show. I like these designs, the acting is on point, and it actually has some creative ideas.
Though while I like the ideas, the execution is quite sloppy. I wish the writers picked an idea and committed to these ideas. It feels like these were rushed to get to the point for these. I like the Osborne Academy idea, I also liked Spider-Island, and even the Jackal had some cool moments but then it rushed things like Miles origin story. Heck, the first episodes feel like it is going to be an origin / starting out Peter Parker...only for it to drop that in a few episodes.
Still, when the show gets good it gets really good.
I feel the hate for the show gets way more exaggerated than it deserves.
I enjoyed myself with it and hope it goes far.

@Music Meister Agreed. A majority of the haters are just fans of spectacular who haven't accepted that it's gone and isn't coming back.
My few issues with it however can be summed up by KhFan-D98 but there's more than that. The feminist propaganda is also driving me insane (and this is coming from a feminist BTW).

@Soul-dragon Why everytime a new Spider-Man show gets any criticisms, it's automatically just SSM fans being overly harsh? Or if it is any other Marvel show, it's AEMH fans? I mean, I know that the toxic fans, unfortunately, do exist and I haven't been active part in Marvel Animation circles for couple of years, since none of their recent outputs have grabbed my interest, so I can't say I know how SSM/AEMH fans have behaved themselves in various forums or youtube comment sections lately, but it's hardly fair to make blanket statements like "majority of the haters are just fans of spectacular", especially since I almost never see this happening with other franchises.

When a new Transformers show gets flak, everyone isn't calling the critics G1/Beast Wars/Prime purists, people who have problems with the Ducktales reboot aren't automatically labeled as manchilds who can't let go of the original show, people who didn't like The Batman or Beware the Batman aren't usually stereotyped as petty Bruce Timm fans etc.

I don't want to start any fights over this nor do I think that you meant any genuine malice with your comment Soul-dragon, but could we all just drop this casual bashing of SSM/AEMH fans I see almost everyday when I visit this site? I know that we aren't perfect (myself, without a question, included), but visiting this site is kinda starting become distressing, when me loving certain shows and holding them as my personal favorite interpretations of certain characters automatically means that I hate everything that came after (or in some cases before) with no other reason than me being fanatic fanboy who needs to grow-up.

@Soul-dragon All the role reprisals we've gotten for this series are from those not usually involved in SpiderMan mythos. Jim Cummings, Fred Tatasciore, and Mick Wingert reprised their roles as The Ghost, Hulk, and Iron Man all from Avengers Assemble (though Fred voiced the character longer). Laura Bailey will most definitely reprise the role of Black Widow.

Two more Casting tidbits:

I read the description for part 2 that mentions that Arnim Zola and Crossbones will appear, in addition to Black Widow. It wouldn't surprise me if Mark Hamill and Fred Tatasciore reprise the roles of the former two.

The description for part 3 mentions that Kraven The Hunter will appear. It wouldn't surprise me if Hawkeye made at least a cameo with Troy Baker reprising the role since he voices Kraven in this series.

The Spidey fandom nowadays dislike the character due to Marvel`s heavy insistance to promote him in comic books and whatnot and taking the spotlight from peter parker.

@Abdullab @NCZ I have nothing against Miles (even though, admittedly, I haven't read anything with him besides Spider-Verse), but it is kinda silly to make him Peter Parker's sidekick/protege in a show that's all about Peter's early days as Spider-Man. Especially, since the last Spider-Man show already was all about team-ups and this show was meant to be more back to basics.
D.A.V.E.
said at 8:53 PM on Sun Dec 3 2017
@The Doctor Pretty much. The Miles push is a bit annoying, but hardly a big issue. However, trying to give him powers so early, making him already much better at handling them than Peter, and having him become a full-fledged hero in a single episode is incredibly rushed.

It doesn't help that he's barely in the next few episodes, and he's even gone in some of them, too.
GothamRed

@The Doctor Pretty sure it's another case like ultimate spider-man where even though it's his early days he's still getting a team it just won't be immdiate. Them using Anya means that Spider-Girl or Arana is coming and because of marvel's continually pushing her, Gwen will likely become Spider-Woman too.

This cast is pretty solid and the show isn't half bad (despite the incredibly cheap animation). It's better than Ultimate, however I don't like how they made every villain tech based and downplay Spidey's status as an underdog. But yeah, the voice acting is really solid for the most part.

However the one thing I don't like about the cast is the amount of child stars that Disney continues to shove in every place you find. Granted the acting isn't half bad and I know that it's a marketing strategy, but the I wish that they'd stop putting so much pressure on them (they did see what Hannah Montana did to Miley Cyrus right?).

I've been enjoying the show fine. I'm at the very least happy that there's more of a focus on Spidey's own cast, rather than random other Marvel characters like Ultimate did. The animation doesn''t bother me as much as other people, but my main problem is, why is everyone in this series but Flash a teen genius. I hate when they take Peter's genius card and share it with everyone else, it makes him seem less impressive when other people keep one-upping his smartness (which has been a big issue with gwen in recent years).

Apparently, Kraven the Hunter (Why'd they have to make HIM of all villains tech-based...?) is voiced by Troy Baker.

ANOTHER thing I'm wondering is, with The Last of Us 2 coming on the horizon and with him just being incredibly busy in general, how do they keep consistently managing to get him to voice for their mediocre Marvel shows???

That's a dumb move considering that the character has a rather 'primal' sort of vibe to him if you know what I mean. As for Troy, maybe he just had some free time or he's contracted by Marvel. Who knows honestly? At least it's not one of those child actors who Disney shoves in every place they can find.

I have to just say this: I haven't watched the show much, but one thing I really don't like that I've seen is the de-aging of most of the villains.

In my opinion, this really downplays Spidey's original status as an underdog. One of his defining traits was that he was a young inexperienced kid, often fighting grown men who were bigger, stronger, and often savvier than him, but he'd always find a way to come out on top. With most of his bad guys being his age, that aspect is all but completely gone.

Along with this, I always saw Peter's experience and gaining his powers at his school at a science exhibit was a random twist of fate that was only for him. And yet here we are, where he's in this super advanced science school as a super advanced science student who's already meeting other kids with spider powers, where as in the comics continuity he didn't meet Spider-Gwen, Miles, Silk, and the like until years later. But here they are popping up around the same time as Spider-Man, plus there's OTHER students getting powers and becoming supervillains. It just rubs me the wrong way...

It sounds like the show's not bad otherwise, though, so I'll give it more of a shot.

@Soul-dragon From what I've seen, it's definitely better than Ultimate. It seems to be absent in nonsensical chibi cutaway segments, Peter Parker seems to be actually intelligent, Robbie Daymond has potential to be a really good voice for him, and from the origin shorts, it seems that the creators of this show actually know HOW to get serious and stop joking, so if they do THAT more often, it'll be fine, but it still seems a bit overtly jokey, plus the animation is still a little... off...

From what I've seen this show isn't that good. The animation is extremely cheap, the dialog is corny and all of the stories they're trying to tell have already been told better by either one of the movies or Spectacular. It is somewhat better than Ultimate, but it's still pretty bad. And some of the jokes really fall flat. For example, when Osborn showed up to the cafe his chauffeur was Bernie Sanders. Ok that might not have been a joke, but it's still pretty stupid. They also found a way to make Spiderman's one liners even more annoying than ever before.

I gotta say, I am preety interested in this series thought if were going from a day 1 spidey than id save the use of Miles and Melanie for a few seasons later than the start (I miss the days when spidey worked solo instead the writers force him into being a team player)

Spoilers on episode 1 origin, Peter gets bit by radioactive spider, gets spider powers enters wrestling, lets theif go cus not his porblem, uncle ben dies, pete finds killer and realises it was theif he let go and learns with great power comes great responsibility.

@Abdullab I agree, I'm excited for this series, I'll give it a chance. But I absolutely HATE that they're adding different spiders. Isn't Anya Corazon some kind of spider hero too? Who actually cares about her to begin with?

@TheDayman I honestly care more about Anya than Miles, to be honest.

@D.A.V.E. It seems like Marvel has been trying to shove Miles Morales down our throats the last 2 years

@TheDayman

It's only fair since they shoved Peter Parker down our throats the past 50 years.

@TheDayman I don't care about that. I'm just more happy that Anya is getting more attention after Marvel discarded her and forgot about her for almost a decade.

 2 Shout Outs!
Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacey... I'm surprised I haven't done a fan pick for that cast myself.

I imagine she might sound similar to Lacey Chabert in someway while still doing her own thing with the character.

Scott Menville as Doc Ock? Interesting, and hopefully inspired, casting.

@TylerMirage I imagine a voice similar to his Glenn Shadix impression for the Brain would be a solid fit for Doc Ock....

With the exception of Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell (seriously that perfect) I'm not really feeling these casting choices.

@TheAdapter I'm pretty excited about Alastair Duncan. And I could care less about the voice, it's cool to see the Jackal be used in ANY media outside the comics

@TheDayman this time we will see Warren actually become Jackal

I'm just hoping they adapt Eddie Brock. That was one of my least favorite things about Ultimate.

 3 Shout Outs!
I know I shouldn't criticize it yet because its not out yet, but the background doesn't look so good.

The only confirmed cast member as of now is Fred Tatisiciore, who is voicing Max Modell. Hopefully they made the right choice for Spider-Man.

@Bombermanp Can't say I'm a fan of what's shown so far but I'll wait till an actual episode to judge this thing.

@Music Meister Robbie Daymond? That's sooooo cool. From what I understand, he also voiced him in ADW. Does anyone know who voices Scorpion based on the grunts?
