Nolan North as High Evolutionary? Now that I am interested in hearing.

Seems like they're carrying over Agents of S.M.A.S.H. cast with having Nolan voice Gorgon in this show. Infact he's one of few VA's where it's carried over into each of the Marvel shows starting from 2012.

@Shaun Ince For the Inhumans, Nolan's really the only one carried over from SMASH. Crystal, Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Maximus...all new.

@TylerMirage Yup. Tbh because most of the other Inhumans voices have changed between the other series, I was half expecting the same to happen to Gorgon eventually. Though by the looks of it it seems that the voice directors really like Nolan's voice for Gorgon(I like it as well) so that is why they have kept him as Gorgon. Maybe like with Deadpool, Nolan will eventually become the go to guy for Gorgon. Only time will tell.

So this seems to more or less take place in it's own universe, since they change so much established stuff about the other shows. So why did the other shows change the appearance of the Guardians to reflect this? I mean I get them trying to match the movie appearances, but why did they have Will Friedle replace Chris Cox on AA and SMASH if they were going to do nothing to tie it in?

@TheLemsterPju Truth is that he's actually really old. That's why they chose to keep the lights off when they filmed that scene. ;)

@TylerMirage But in USM he was a teenager.

You know, I like the Asgard-arc for a lot of reasons. But my main one? All of the gold architecture of Asgard meant most characters were actually bathed in some form of light/reflection, as opposed to surrounded by inexplicable darkness.

If you like or at least can tolerate Avengers Assemble or Ultimate Spiderman than you can enjoy this.
In a sense, it has the same pros and cons as those shows.

@Zillah Personally, I think it's all right. It's not phenomenal, but it's not terrible. I'd consider it the best of the four animated Marvel shows from the past while.

The animation is a little better than AA and USM (in fact, the recent episodes have been REALLY good in that regard) and the voice-acting/cast is top-notch.

I'd say the biggest turn-offs of the show are the obvious "let's keep the lights off"-aesthetic and my personal pet-peeve of "let's shoehorn in as many live-action Guardians of the Galaxy words, phrases, lines, designs and references as possible even though this show isn't technically connected to the movie but the kids will love it if Star-Lord mentions the dance-off and Rocket says "Oh, yeah!" multiple times and Yondu continues to mention his crew never eating Terran before".

If you have the time, give the first few episodes and last few episodes a shot. If it's not up your alley, then don't go on.

As it is recorded at Bang! Zoom!, would have been kinda nice to see anime VA's like JYB or the like.

Fantastic cast & show anyhow

@huzaifa_ahmed Since when did Bang Zoom record original animation?
said at 10:52 AM on Sat Mar 5 2016
@Troodon2 For a while, actually. Usually more obscure stuff, but that Stan Lee thing was recorded there along with Rick and Morty.

@Troodon2 They also do various video games. One notable one that most people might not be aware of is Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. That game was recorded at Bang Zoom.

I wonder why they aren't being that consistent with the cast here as the other 3 shows.

Jeff's not The Collector even though he has been in the other MAU shows, same with Nika Futterman and Chris Cox.Even recently with Ebony Maw and the Grandmaster who appeared recently on USM and Avengers Assemble. If this is still part of the MAU, why are they going more with the films route yet still keeping some voices from the previous Marvel shows?
TylerMirage (Admin)
said at 11:40 AM on Mon Nov 2 2015
@kando123 With Star-Lord and Rocket, those casting decisions were ones LONG in the making. They've been pushing Will as Star-Lord and Trevor as Rocket for a while, as they've appeared in USM/AA/SMASH, taking over from Chris and Billy/Seth.

Gamora? Not sure why they didn't get Nika back, to be honest.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Ebony Maw was a situation where Rene wasn't available at the time. Given that Hynden, David and Kari all reprised, they probably would've gotten Rene back if they could've.

And I'm really not sure with regards to the others. I mean, Thanos, Titus, Supergiant, Corvus, and Proxima's VAs all came back. But not Collector or Grandmaster? There's not really a rhyme or reason as to who comes back and who doesn't.

I think it's a case of creative decisions leading to recasting rather than a deliberate "these are different versions of the characters/this show doesn't take place in continuity with the others". Guaranteed that if characters like The Avengers and Loki show up, we'll get their staple Marvel Animation VAs.

David Sobolov also came back as Drax.

Ok so far these shorts have actually been pretty good for the most part. I really hope the show manages to be good for the most part.

I really enjoyed seeing Groot and Rocket's origins. Trevor Devall and Kevin Michael Richardson are doing a fantastic job as the two. KMR nearly sounds spot on to Vin Diesel and has nearly all the depth Vin poured in the character.

Huh. I can see where they're coming from with Friedle, but I think Roger Craig Smith is closer to Pratt, who is clearly who they're going for.
TylerMirage (Admin)
said at 10:55 AM on Fri Jul 31 2015
@Fairfieldfencer RCS does seem like a better match for a Pratt sound-a-like, now that you mention it.

But I think since they've already gone and had Friedle take over from Cox in SMASH and AA (and most like USM, if they show up again), they probably wanted to stick with Friedle for continuity's sake.

Please just give this a theme song, three times already they went with a generic "heroic music" instead of something catchy, the movie is known for its song track so maybe this has a chance.

Will as Star Lord is a great casting call, he can so channel Pratt but make his own thing.
It's strange since so far, with Drax, Rocket and Groot, it's all reprisals.
I'm curious if Nika will reprise too, I love her as Gamora but I wouldn't mind someone new.

Yeah, while I do like the other ones. I just get the feeling that some of the humour in them is starting to become stale.

As long as Drax's delivery is as odd and wooden as Dave Bautista's was in the movie, I will watch this series every day.
Though I kinda wish Drax looked a little less "generic thick-chinned Batman" and more "totally out-of-his-mind Ahnold". I dunno, maybe it's just the frown. It doesn't suit him.

Given that all these recent Marvel cartoons have had all these random crossovers with Guardians of the Galaxy that I've kind of gotten sick of, it's pretty refreshing to know there's going to be an actual cartoon with them in the starring roles. They probably should've done that earlier, but oh well. I'm just glad it's coming.

The design for and Drax doesn't resemble the movie at all. It wasn't blue, Not a fan of Gamora's design either besides the Pink/red highlights in her hair it looks nothing like Zoe Saldana, if that's what they're going for, and the skin is too light. Even Groot looks weird. Star-Lord doesn't look like Chris Pratt that much. It seems this is it's own series judging by dialogue, and the other Marvel shows will probably have died off by the time it premieres.

Plus I'm out of it today, not paying attention to what I'm doing. Yeah they may not be copying the movie but some peole think they are so this comment is based on that belief
