Supposedly, ADV was set to dub this, but unfortunately they went out of business before they could. I wonder what that cast would've been like.

the only one I could think of is maybe Christine Auten as Revy?

@Lpfan120 I would of guessed Maggie Flecknoe as Revy.

Maggie would have been good as Revy if ADV dubbed it.

I personally think that Christine Auten would have been Balalaika. I would have pictured Balalaika with the voice Christine used as Esdeath in "Akame ga Kill!"

Doing a little bit of thinking, Black Lagoon was released by Geneon in 2007. If ADV films did have the rights to Black Lagoon; lets say the tail end of 2006, then it would have been possible for them to release it in 2007.

Hypothetically speaking, would ADV films have the balls to write a similar script to what Geneon and Ocean studios ended up with? The amount of swearing and racism (there was some of it in the japanese audio) are some of things that made the english version so memorable.

As for the cast, who was part of ADV films talent pool during 2007? Best to start with the Lagoon company. Purely non serious in all of these, I would go with:

Revy: Luci Christian
Rock: Leraldo Anzaldua
Dutch: Jovan Jackson
Benny: Mark Laskowski

Other favourites:

Roberta: Christine Auten
Eda: Shelly Calene-Black
Balalaika: Joanne Bonasso
Shenhua: Kira Vincent-Davis
Bai Ji-Shin Chang: John Gremillion

Imaginary casting for Shenhua hurt my brain the most as its to Chinglish or not to Chinglish?

One of the finest dubs of all time. Maryke Hendrikse is perfect as Revy.

Honestly, everyone in the dub was perfect. I can't think of one voice that was terrible or unlistenable.

I love this dub so much! I love this show in general! The swearing and violence is such candy for the eyes and ears.

The voice actors for the 4 main characters if FUNimation re-did the dub (in my own opinion):

Rock: Joel McDonald
Revy: Morgan Garrett
Dutch: Patrick Seitz
Benny: Either Jerry Jewell or Eric Vale (This is the character out of the 4 whose voice actor pick I wasn't sure about)

These are just opinions though, so disagreements are welcome

@MegaMike1990 My vote for Benny would be Jerry Jewell. I'm not so sure about Morgan Garrett as Revy, considering her characters are emotionally reserved and calm, and Revy's a pretty wild card, so I don't see Morgan pulling it off.

@Jared Delgado

Well, I respect your opinion. If not Morgan, then I would say Emily Neves as Revy. Saying that because of Emily playing Minene Uryuu on The Future Diary. Also, the reason I included Eric Vale as my alternate option as Benny is because the seiyuu for Benny also voiced Sanji on One Piece.

@MegaMike1990 Thank you for replying, and Emily Neves can DEFINITELY pull it off. Eric Vale's still a good choice.

@MegaMike1990 While the Canadian VA cast for Black Lagoon is irreplaceable, I can imagine who would be cast in this dub if Funi had the rights to it from 2007.

Eric Vale would sound great as Rock and Emily Neves could definitely pull Revy off, but since I'm imagining the dub being dubbed in 2007, I think Laura Bailey would make a great Revy. If you're not convinced, she voiced Kaine in Nier and the Boss from Saints Row. For some reason, I can imagine Vic Mignogna as Benny, as it kind of sounded it to me that way. And either Patrick Seitz or Bob Carter would pull off Dutch.

Just thought I might put it in that way, since I once imagined Jennifer Seman as Balalaika.

@MegaMike1990 not bad mine would be Austin tindle as Rock, Elizabeth Maxwell as Revy, Rick Keeling as Dutch, and Chris Bevins as Benny

These choices of yours aren't bad as well.
