Tim Allen Touts Toy Story 4 As Being Very EmotionalReported by Foxwolf on Friday, September 28th 2018
The voice of Buzz Lightyear kept details to a minimum, but described the movie as being very emotional while still being funny, and praised the story that Disney and Pixar came up with. He also likened the movie to this years Avengers: Infinity War.
"I gotta resist getting emotional because I don’t wanna give it away but this is an incredibly great story. If you’re at all a superhero fan, ‘Infinity War,’ I’m a big superhero fan, that didn’t seem like it was going to work. It was a lot of vignettes that all made sense. This ‘Toy Story 4’. We’ve only been through it once, there will be several more incantations, but it is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big the idea that they’ve come up with. I’m startled. [‘Toy Story 3’] I thought was amazing. This one, I couldn’t even get through the last scene, OK?"
After the enormous success of Toy Story 3 back in 2010, director Lee Unkrich said they had no plans for another, especially with the emotionally yet neatly-tied-bow ending of the third. So when it was announced in 2014 that "4" was going to be made, there was excitement and surprise.
Early reports said the story would follow Woody and Buzz as they search for Woody's love interest Bo Peep, who was MIA in "3". However, Annie Potts (voice of Bo) revealed back in June that Pixar threw out about three-quarters of the script and rewrote it, which explains why the release date was pushed back a whole year. Despite the rewrite, Potts was happy to share that she still has a big part in it.
Toy Story 4 is set to come of the toybox on June 21st 2019.
