It's been an amazing few couple of years for nostalgic fans of Playstation 1 games. Final Fantasy VII has a remake lined up, iconic series like Tekken, Tomb Raider, and Gran Turismo just got major new releases, and other games like Crash Bandicoot, Wipeout, and PaRappa the Rapper have been remastered. Platformers especially have been making a big comeback, with Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, Celeste, and Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap being just a few of the past year's most beloved games.
Following in the footsteps of last year's Crash: N-Sane Trilogy is the other mascot platformer that defined the PS1: Spyro. Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy is a full remake of the original series, featuring the same gameplay and level designs with lush new graphics. It features all three of Insomniac's original Spyro games: Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage, and Year of the Dragon. A trailer can be seen below, featuring some comparisons of the original Spyro with its PS4 makeover:
Publisher Activision have also announced that voice actor Tom Kenny, who played Spyro in the second two games, will be returning for Reignited Trilogy, lending his voice to all three games.
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy comes out for PS4 and Xbox One on September 21, 2018, just in time for the series's 20th anniversary.
