Sesame Street Movie Lands A Director

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to the theater to see the new Sesame Street movie? Well, not quite yet. While a film featuring the famous educational Muppets has yet-to-be officially greenlit, a director has just been hired.

Variety reports that Portlandia co-creator Jonathan Krisel will helm a feature length theatrical Sesame Street, with a script having already gone through a couple of draft phases.
Producer Shawn Levy has been trying to get the project off the ground since 2012, when the rights were with 20th Century Fox. With the rights now sitting with Warner Bros. and the hiring of Krisel, the film is looking close to becoming a reality.

While distant "cousins" The Muppets have received over half a dozen theatrical films, Sesame Street has only had two - Follow That Bird in 1985 and Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland in 1999.
