Robert Downey Jr. May Return As Iron Man In Voice Over CapacityReported on Thursday, September 5th 2019
There are unconfirmed reports going around that Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ... albeit in a voice over capacity.
Despite the events of Avengers: Endgame, which concluded with Downey's Iron Man character sacrificing himself to save the entire universe, the actor will supposedly reprise his role of Tony Stark in the form of an AI (not unlike his suits J.A.R.V.I.S. (voiced by Paul Bettany) and F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Kerry Condon) - something that was alluded to at the end of Endgame when he left a holographic goodbye message for his daughter and Pepper Potts.
Just like in the world of comics, a characters's death doesn't mean the end of the superhero persona. Mantles and legacies are often passed on / picked up by new characters. With that in mind, Disney+ may continue Iron Man in the form of Riri Williams' Ironheart in her own series.
Unlike their other Disney+ shows, Marvel has not officially confirmed this news.
