This is the best of the "Star Wars" prequels by far, no questions asked. It's still inferior to the original trilogy (and even "The Force Awakens" as well as "Rogue One"), but unlike "Attack of the Clones" or "The Phantom Menace", "Revenge of the Sith" succeeds in part because it showcases the story that Lucas has always wanted to tell: about a man who makes a tragic decision that turns him into a hated villain. Because of that it works.

That said, "Revenge of the Sith" still has its share of problems. The acting is greatly improved on the other prequels for the most part, although it's still held back by the occasional iffy moment of dialogue and/or stiff moment. Haydn Christensen still suffers from occasional weak delivery, but having said that, he is still better than his turn in "Attack of the Clones", especially in the latter half of the film when he becomes Darth Vader. The love scenes are also still the weakest part of the film, although to be fair, they're nowhere nearly as groanworthy as in "Attack of the Clones" -- still, cutting them down considerably would have improved the pace.

On the flipside, the visual effects are the best in any of the prequels, and despite the aforementioned problems, there are performances that do indeed rise to the occasion. Ewan McGregor finally matures into his role as Obi-Wan, giving the best performance in the prequels. Ian McDiarmid absolutely steals the show as Emperor Palpatine, chewing the scenery with gusto while simultaneously channeling subtle evil during his "Senator" scenes. A scene at an opera house, in particular, is well acted. Even Samuel Jackson, who unfortunately had a lot of stiff delivery in the previous prequels, at least gets something to do in the latter half of the movie. Once again, though, it's Yoda who owns the movie. Computer generated or not, he still exudes the same irascible but lovable personality we know from "Empire Strikes Back", thanks to Frank Oz's iconic performance.

Although flawed, "Revenge of the Sith" is still miles better than "Attack of the Clones" and "The Phantom Menace", and is probably the only one of the three prequels that I can recommend, albeit with reservations.

It still has some flaws mainly from having to work with some iffy stuff the last two movies set up, and the dialogue is still awful (the "you are beautiful because I am so in love with you" scene literally makes me want to die). But I definitely appreciate ROTS because it is at least a competent film, the pacing is waaayy better than the last two, and the subject material it covers is actually interesting. Ewan McGregor finally got the chance to really shine as Obi-Wan.
