Jean Kirstein is a graduate of the 104th Trainees Squad, among whom he ranked 6th best. Jean hails from Wall Rose's Trost District, and joined the military with hopes of obtaining a peaceful life as part of the Military Police Brigade, but would eventually find himself joining the Survey Corps.

Reiner Braun is a graduate of the 104th Trainees Squad and a former member of the Survey Corps. He ranked 2nd in the class, and was regarded by others as a charismatic and reliable big brother figure.
Along with Bertolt and Annie, he is a person that possesses the ability to transform into a Titan and serves an as-yet unrevealed group. He comes from a mysterious homeland outside the Walls, and was on a mission to infiltrate the military in search of something that he refers to as the "Coordinate". After his true identity is revealed, he serves as a major antagonist and foil to Eren Yeager, as well as illustrating the complex morality of the series.

Erwin Smithm sometimes known as Chief Erwin, is the former commander of the Survey Corps. Far-thinking, intelligent, respected, Erwin was an able commander and while he cares as deeply for his men, he would not hesitate to sacrifice them for the future of mankind (and soldiers of Survey Corps seem to be aware of this. Despite this knowledge they are still extremely loyal to him). He developed the "Formation for Long Distance Enemy Detection".

Eren Yeager (エレン・イェーガー Eren Yēgā?, often romanised as Eren Jäger/Eren Jaeger) is the main protagonist of Attack on Titan. He is the son of Grisha and the late Kalura Yeager. He was born in the Shiganshina District, a town located on the southern part the outermost Wall, which was destroyed by the Titans. His best friends are his childhood companion, Armin Arlert, and his 'adopted' sister, Mikasa Ackerman.
He holds a personal vendetta against all Titans, and his dream is to purge them from the Earth and explore the world beyond the Walls. He graduated as one of the top five soldiers of 104th Trainee Squad and currently serves as a member of the Survey Corps. He is later discovered to be a Titan Shifter, and uses his abilities to aid in humanity's fight against the rule of the Titans. He is also known as "The Coordinate" to the Titan Shifters that infiltrated the walls.

Mikasa Akkāman?) is the 'adopted' sister of Eren Yeager, and the main female protagonist of the series. She lived with the Yeager family for approximately a year before the fall of wall Maria. Though she desires only to live a peaceful life with Eren, Mikasa chooses to follow Eren into the military, where she would become the best soldier among the 104th Trainees Squad, and later join the Survey Corps.

Armin Arlert is a childhood friend of Eren Yeager's and the deuteragonist in the series. Although physically more frail than most, if not all of the current recruits, he has proven his skills as a field tactician and strategist with his high intelligence.

Ymir is a graduate of the 104th Trainees Squad and former member of the Survey Corps. She is a person with the ability to transform into a Titan, and has knowledge of many of the secrets concerning the true nature of Titans and the history of humanity.

Connie Springe is a member of the 104th Trainees Squad, of which he is ranked 8th best. Connie hails from the rural Ragako village within Wall Rose, and his greatest ambition is to make his family and village proud of him. Upon graduation, he joined the Survey Corps.

Levi Ackerman is a leading soldier in the Survey Corps, and is said to be humanity's most powerful soldier. He is also the leader of the Special Operations Squad.

Annie Leonhart, formerly a member of the 104th Trainees Squad who later enrolled in the Military Police Brigade after their graduation, is a Titan Shifter and a member of a mysterious organization keen on destroying the Walls for unknown reasons.

Sasha Braus is a former member of the 104th Trainees Squad, of which she was ranked 9th best. A compulsive food hoarder with an overly polite way of speech, Sasha originates from the Dauper village (a southern district of Trost) and was one of the new recruits that chose to join the Survey Corps alongside Eren, despite being terrified of Titans.

Bertolt Hoover is a graduate of the 104th Trainees Squad and former member of the Survey Corps. He ranked 3rd, and is described by others as a weak-willed and quiet person rarely seen without Reiner Braun, his close childhood friend.
Along with Reiner and Annie, he is a person that possesses the ability to transform into a Titan and serves an as-yet unrevealed group. He comes from a mysterious homeland outside the Walls, and was on a mission to infiltrate the military in search of something that Reiner refers to as the "Coordinate". As the Colossal Titan, he serves as a major antagonist -- however, the revelation of his true identity illustrates the moral uncertainty of the series.

Commander Hange Zoë is the 14th commander of the Survey Corps and a former Squad Leader in charge of the fourth squad. Hange conducts research on Titans to the point of being obsessed with them, and, as such, is deeply interested in Eren Yeager, who has the ability to turn into a Titan.
