Originally Audacity saved MP3s worked at the time Casting Call was written. However the software may have changed the way it saves MP3s. At an unknown future time, the process will change where auditions will be recorded and saved directly on the site. In the meantime, please ask fellow members who have success with MP3 uploads how they are saving/encoding their files. Thanks and apologies for the inconvenience.

Description:
I'm creating a fandub of the well-known scene in Superman: Grounded in which Superman convinces a woman in Philadelphia not to take her own life. This scene has special meaning to me, and I'd like to spread its powerful message by portraying the struggles of the characters and the empathy of the hero through emotion-inducing voice acting.

If you are cast, you will receive a script and scans of the comic as reference, as well as a link to the finished project when all is said and done. My preferred method of communication is email, so if you are cast, please include your email address in a comment so that I can send you the necessary instructions. To all who audition: thanks for all your efforts in advance!

Superman

Superman
Name: Superman
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Guy needs no introduction. A survivor of the destruction of the planet Krypton, Superman gains his powers from his exposure to Earth's atmosphere and his sense of duty from his love of Earth's people.
The Superman we see here is the same powerful hero we see lifting heavy objects and battling villains, but here he's being gentle, understanding, and empathetic. His voice has to reflect those qualities. Think of a strong, charismatic voice that could be authoritative if it wanted to, but instead it's quiet, contemplative, and comforting, as if the slightest inappropriate fluctuation could send everything crashing down.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"Hello, Felicity. I thought we might talk for a bit. I understand you've been going through a lot lately."
Line 2:
"You're right when you say we all come out of high school thinking we're going to save the world. And sometimes we do. And sometimes--sometimes we don't. So you don't think about saving the world. You think about saving just one person. Because sometimes, that's enough."
Line 3:
"If you honestly believe, in your heart of hearts, that you will never, ever have another happy day...then step out into the air. I'll keep my promise. I won't stop you. But if you think there's a chance--no matter how small--that there might be just one more happy day out there--then take my hand."

Felicity Rose

Felicity Rose
Name: Felicity Rose
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
A woman who had just lost her mother and her job. Her hopes dashed, her dreams nothing more than dreams, her eyes looking out on a world that has nothing but misery left for her, she now stands in tears upon a rooftop, with every intention of putting herself to rest once and for all.
Felicity's voice needs to sob, to lash out in anger, to crack in despair, maybe even let slip a sadistically forced chuckle. I want her emotions to go all out of whack, as if she doesn't even know what she's feeling anymore. Most importantly: if you can make me tear up, you've got a pretty good chance of getting the part.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"[angry] Don't you dare touch me! That's what you want, isn't it? Wait until I drop my guard and then you grab me and take me back down there by force! Because you can! Because you're stronger than me! Because you know I can't stop you!"
Line 2:
"After I buried my mom, I stood there after everybody else had left, and I thought...is this it? I mean, is this all there is? Working in a cubicle six days a week until I'm too old to do it anymore, then I die? Is that it? Is that what we're here for? What's the point?"
Line 3:
"[sobbing] I don't know...I feel like I don't know anything anymore. I don't know what to do..."

Police Officer

Police Officer
Name: Police Officer
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
A police officer at the scene, attempting to convince Felicity not to jump. While he's happy to see Superman, he doesn't seem to understand that he shouldn't force her to make the choice to live, and would much rather get the job over and done with.
I'd like a semi-deep, baritone, Philadelphia accent for him. Don't make him too casual, just think of him as a guy whose main motivation is doing his job, but still understands that there is a life on the line.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"From what we can figure, she lost her mom, lost her job, lost everything...and came down here to end it. Don't suppose you'd like to go up there and grab her for us, would you?"
Line 2:
"Dude said he was gonna talk to her."
Line 3:
"[startled interjection]"

HELP
  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• Why is there a limit to 4 active projects per member?
While a project owner is welcome to have as many active projects running as they wish outside BTVA, the limit is imposed because having too many active projects can be somewhat "unrealistic". We want those who are auditioning to feel that each project is getting the attention and quality it deserves given auditioners themselves are putting in their own time and effort. Once a project owner flags a project as "Completed", they are welcome to create a new project.
• Can I audition more than once for a character?
The system is built to allow ONE audition per character. This is to avoid having a number of auditions from the same member and making the project owner have to listen to all of them. For now, if you or the project owner wishes you to submit another audition, the project owner will need to "Delete" your audition. The project owner can do this in the "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link.
• How do I flag a character as being Cast?
As a project owner you will see a "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link for each character. Clicking it will allow you to Cast, Backup or Pass an audition. Casting a character will prevent new auditions from being submitted for that character.
• Why do I need a valid email address?
If you audition for a project and are cast in a role, you will notified by email.
