Lupin III is one of Japan's biggest franchises of all time, with numerous manga, anime series, movies and TV specials based on the character. The eponymous Lupin, grandson of gentleman thief Arsene Lupin, commits heist after heist in over-the-top ways with his comrades; master marksman Daisuke Jigen, impossibly strong samurai Goemon Ishikawa and femme fatale Fujiko Mine.

This project is a fandub of a portion of the second TV series, known as "Lupin III Part II" or the "Red Jacket" series after Lupin's outfit. This series is arguably the most well-known and popular part of the Lupin franchise, but sadly only about half of the show was released in English.

The official English dub, created by Geneon, was somewhat controversial due to its insertion of puns and pop culture references (allegedly mandated by TMS, the original production company.) Personally, I always thought it was tremendously funny, and it's sort of a shame that half of the show is only watchable with average-to-poor fansubs that have none of the personality or humor that belongs with it.

This project aims to create a fandub of the rest of the show (or at least a portion of it--see below) with the same spirit as the Geneon dub. The scripts will be written in the same humorous manner and the voice actors are encouraged to ad-lib. Imitating the Geneon voices is not necessary, as long as you can project a similar tone and spirit.

Now, dubbing the entire rest of the series would be a Herculean effort of massive proportions, and not every episode is a winner to begin with. Where necessary, we may skip around a bit to dub only the "greatest hits." Scripts for episodes 80 and 81 have been written, so dubbing can start as soon as possible once a cast has been selected. Voice actors will be directed over Skype while recording themselves, but due to the obvious latency issues you will have to make sure the lines match the lip flaps on your own. Some editing can be done after the fact to make lines fit more nicely, but obviously it's a lot more convenient to get it as close as possible to begin with.

Because of the show's premise, Lupin III has a -lot- of one-off characters. I've listed the ones from the two episodes mentioned above. If you audition, regardless of whether or not you get one of the parts, I'll keep your audition on file for later as there are so many characters that will need voices.
