Description:
Ladies and Gentlemen, in this Casting Call we shall be doing audio plays of 4 Classic Marvel Comic stories (and 1 recent one) namely…

X-Men Issue 1- http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/X-Men_Vol_1_1
Giant-Size X-Men Issue 1- http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Giant-Size_X-Men_Vol_1_1
Amazing Fantasy Introducing Spider-Man- http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Amazing_Fantasy_Vol_1_15
Amazing Spider-Man Issue 1- http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_1
Spidey Issue 6 Making the Grade- http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Spidey_Vol_1_6

I will tell you right now folks that there will be a LOT of roles in this CC however a lot of them are minor extras that would be covered by auditions. I was feeling inspired by the “True Believers” comic line from Marvel (where they re-release classic comic book stories for only a $1 each.) This may certainly seem like a lot but I can start things one at a time with X-Men and Spider-Man when the casting is finished and go from there. But in this CC you can potentially be in a Audio Play of a couple of the Beginning Stories for X-Men and Spider-Man (and as an added bonus one of the installments of the recent Spidey Comic Book series). Anyways here are the guidelines...

* Accents are mostly optional and if you like you can send a accent version and a non-accent version for certain characters.
* If you are cast I may ask you to reprise for the role again sometime in the future.
* This is more of a suggestion but I do strongly recommend that if you audition that you should audition for at least more than one role. I admit I do try to keep the amount of auditioners who didn't get a role at all in any way to a minimum. So let’s just say it would help your chances.

Age: Old/Senior
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately Low, Intellectual, Sophisticated, Fatherly, Firm but Fair, Elderly

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/X-Men/Xavier/

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1, Giant-Size X-Men 1

Bio: The founder & leader of the X-Men is none other than Charles Xavier, a very well-to-do bald older gentleman who is confined to a wheelchair. Charles’ Mutant Powers are Mind-Reading and Telepathy in which he frequently uses the former to communicate with the members of the X-Men as he trains the X-Men to fight the evil Mutants who would endanger mankind. In which Professor X is a very firm but fair mentor to the members of the X-Men, as Xavier gets them to run the Danger Room course. Professor X and Cyclops will be the only X-Men roles to appear in both stories and get a sizable amount of lines.

(Note: Xavier will be using his telepathy power plenty of times in both stories so for lines 1, 2, 5 and 6 please use a Echo and/or Reverberate effect on your voice which is a fairly easy process on programs like Audacity but if you really can’t do it then I can provide the effects.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:

Line 2:
"3. (X-Men Issue 1, Warm Greeting) Come in, my child! I am Professor Xavier! I am glad you received my message!
4. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Calm & trying to be reasonable) Don’t be too hasty, my young friend. I’ve come to help you fulfill your dream- to give pride back to your people. You are special, John Proudstar. You are a Mutant. And you are needed."
Line 3:
"5. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Concerned & Uncertain) But will you- will any of my new X-Men be equal to the task that lies before you? Or will you carry the world into ruin?
6. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Firm to Calm & Wise) Scott—Stop! You’re going about this all wrong! I’ve been mentally monitoring your battle thus far-- --studying this living island-- --and I believe I’ve discovered its sole weak point! Now this is my plan…"

Cyclops/Scott "Slim" Summers

Cyclops/Scott "Slim" Summers
Name: Cyclops/Scott "Slim" Summers
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately Low, Youthful, Firm, Serious (particularly GSXM), Teenage (XMI1), Heroic

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/X-Men/Cyclops/

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1, Giant-Size X-Men 1

Bio: The Original Field Leader of the X-Men and is well known (and more than occasionally mocked) for being one of Professor X’s best students. Cyclops’ Mutant Power is that he can fire energy blasts from his eyes called Optic Blasts in which his visor helps him control that (though he is also an accomplished Martial Artist as his specialties are Judo & Aikido). Scott Summers takes his duties as Team Field Leader very seriously though this often causes him to butt heads with other team members on a regular basis. However while he is a serious-manned young leader right from the start he can have some moments of levity such as how like most of the guys he was quickly smitten by Jean Grey (whom they have a relationship later). But when Scott is not being Cyclops he wears a pair of Ruby Quartz Glasses to control his Optic Blasts and was at first given the nickname “Slim” due to this rather thin body. (Though in latter stories he becomes rather buff & fit, he also becomes a lot more serious but considering what happened to the X-Men it’s rather understandable.) Oh yes and he is the only young member of the Team that will appear in both stories and get plenty of lines.

(Note: Since Cyclops was a teenage in X-Men Issue 1 feel free to go for a somewhat lighter tone there but as Cyclops is older & more muscular in Giant-Size X-Men feel free to make your Cyclops voice go a bit deeper but not by a lot.)
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (X-Men Issue 1, Eager to follow commands) Yes, Sir! Professor! Everything is ready!
2. (X-Men Issue 1, Angrily scolding his teammates) Look, you two clowns… be more careful next time! That bowling ball just missed the Professor by a whisker! That kind of horseplay isn’t funny!"
Line 2:
"3. (X-Men Issue 1, Very eager to meet Jean Grey) You’re right, sir! WOW! She’s a real living doll!
4. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Dramatic Exposition) The “details”, people, are depressingly simple! You have been called here because—the X-Men have disappeared!"
Line 3:
"5. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Shocked & Concerned) What is it, sir? Cerebro has never reacted so violently before.
6. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Firm & Authoritative) You heard the Professor, X-Men—it’s travelin’ time!"

Beast/Hank McCoy

Beast/Hank McCoy
Name: Beast/Hank McCoy
Gender: Male
Age: Teenager
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderately Low, Gruff, Rowdy, Teenage, Friendly, Energetic, Boorish

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1

Bio: Hank McCoy was also one of the original members of the X-Men as he is a strong & sturdy young man who can perform all sorts of acrobatic feats. Though the reason why I didn’t put in any reference clips/Voice Compare for Beast here is because he was a significantly different character in his debut. While Beast is generally known as a really buff super-genius with blue fur he was originally known as a muscular teenage boy with hairy legs whose biggest skill is performing acrobatic feats (though he is the eldest of the original members). While Hank is a friendly well-meaning giant he is also rather lecherous and was quite eager to hit on Jean Grey at first (up to the point where he tries to steal a kiss in which this gets Jean to use her powers on him). Beast is also the only member of the original team who did not get a role in Giant-Size X-Men 1 in which he just simply got a passing mention in one scene.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (Annoyed & Slightly in pain) Leggo my arm, you blasted walking icicle! You want me to freeze to death??! Brrr! I don’t mind ice cubes, but I like ‘em in a Coke, not ticklin’ my arm!
2. (Defensive against Cyclops’ Line 2) Quit grandstandin’, Cyclops! We know what we were doin’! And the Prof knows we don’t want him to get hurt any more than you do!"
Line 2:
"3. (Shocked at Jean’s display of her powers) YIIII!! Holy Smoke! What’s goin’ on?!!
4. (Eager & Flirty with Jean) Let me be the first to welcome you to the X-Men, beautiful! *gives Jean a kiss*"
Line 3:
"5. (Defensive & Nervous) Easy, Gorgeous! We were just passin’ by! Don’t go getting’ mad!
6. (Amazed & Serious) And how! It sounded like a trumpet’s blare! Let’s go!"

He is the heir and CEO of the multi-billion dollar Worthington Industries (his father tends to be portrayed as someone who is against mutants). While Angel can be known as a bit of a show-off and a smooth-talking playboy to the ladies especially at first but he mature into a more responsible and heroic young man in his own right, but even during his early days in the X-Men like Beast he may joke with the guys and hit on the ladies but does know when to get serious when the situation calls for it. While Angel will be appearing in both stories he has a more moderate amount of lines in Giant-Size X-Men.

(Note: While there is a bit of an age difference for Angel in both stories, you don’t need to alter your voice between the two stories at all if you don’t want to.)

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (X-Men Issue 1, Trying to act Smooth & Charming) She has one very obvious power – the power to make a man’s heart beat faster!
2. (X-Men Issue 1, Gleefully laughing his head off at Hank’s expense) Oh, boy! What a gal! I hope she keeps that big ape up there forever!"
Line 2:
"3. (X-Men Issue 1, Relieved and Eager for Action) Ahhh! That’s more like it! Now I feel like myself again! Now the Angel is ready to spread his wings… and fly!
4. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Concerned & Realistic) Maybe an impossible one, Cyke—when you consider we have no idea what we are looking for."
Line 3:
"5. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Worried to Angry) Why, Cyclops? Why did you come back for us? You fool – don’t you understand? It wanted you to come back – and bring others with you! It was all a trap-- and now it’s-- --too late!
6. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Amused though slightly concerned) Sorry we don’t have seats for all of you – but this plane wasn’t designed to carry so many Mutants! Which brings us to our next little problem… what are we going to do with 13 X-Men?"

Ice Man/Bobby Drake

Ice Man/Bobby Drake
Name: Ice Man/Bobby Drake
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately High, Youthful, Friendly, Eager, Snarky, Teenage (XM1)

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/X-Men/Iceman/

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1, Giant-Size X-Men 1

Bio: Bobby Drake is one of the younger members of the X-Men as he has the power of Ice, namely he can shoot Ice & Snow and can turn his body into Ice (though he more looked like a walking Snow-Man at first). But while Bobby became a known flirt over the years he was initially a little prudent getting annoyed at the guys for getting so eager to meet a girl when Jean first makes her debut. Anyways while Iceman was very eager to prove himself at first as he got older he did mellow out and is often known for being one of the friendlier members of the team who like his friend Spider-Man often has a snarky quip or two to lighten the mood. Oh yes and while Iceman will appear in both stories he gets a larger role in X-Men Issue 1.

(Note: During the X-Men Issue 1 Lines make Bobby’s voice go a bit higher since he is a skinny short 16-year old boy and go for a more moderate voice for the Giant-Size X-Men lines. Oh and I am not entirely sure how to pronounce Yaybo but I suppose you could do “Yea-Bo” or “Yaw-Bo”)

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (X-Men Issue 1, Annoyed & a bit Whiny) Professor, when are you going to stop taking it easy with me, just because I’m a couple of years younger than the others? How am I ever going to graduate at this rate?
2. (X-Men Issue 1, Amused & mocking Warren’s Line 1) Y’know something, Warren, if I had your line, I’d shoot myself!"
Line 2:
"3. (X-Men Issue 1, Eager and Ready for Action) Yaybo!! Action at last! Gangway!
4. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Mildly Annoyed Observation) Yeech—you’d need a Super-Power just to survive on that desolate mud-bar."
Line 3:
"5. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, Playfully Snarky Tone) I think we took the wrong bus, gang. This place sure doesn’t look like Cleveland. All the insects in the air – the overgrown jungle --! On second thought maybe this is Cleveland.
6. (Giant-Size X-Men 1, gleefully mocking Havok.) The lady doesn’t need your help, Hotshot! She’s in good hands for a change!"

Line 2:
"3. (Proud and Eager for Action) They are startled! Good! The Element of Surprise is in my favor! But they’re making no move to surrender! Perhaps they need another demonstration of my power!

Appears in: Giant-Size X-Men

Bio: General Chasen is a prominent member of the Canadian Government’s Weapon X program and is the authority figure to those such as Wolverine & Alpha Flight. To say that Chasen and Wolverine do not get along would be an understatement as when Professor X offers Wolverine a job in the X-Men to leave Weapon X he immediately took it enraging Chasen in the process. While Chasen is initially seen as an authority figure who would use his position to order people around in later stories he becomes a much more villainous individual. Though in GS XM he is a minor role with only a few lines in which I will just use your auditions.

Appears in: Giant-Size X-Men

Bio: Shiro Yashida is a Japanese Mutant, his Mother was inflicted by Radiation Poisoning from the Hiroshima Bombings and she died while Shiro was young and caused him to have a deep hatred for the United States of America (however his father who is a U.N Diplomat has no animosity towards the US). While Sunfire (temporarily) became a member of the X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men his debut was in The Uncanny X-Men #64 in January of 1970 he was a villain in which his uncle Tomo manipulated him to wage war on the US in which the X-Men tried to stop him. But after Shiro realizes how treacherous his Uncle is he gives up his life of villainy and soon becomes a Super-Hero but still has a strong animosity towards foreigners. Sunfire has Fire powers in this Sun-Heated Plasma in which his other abilities are flight, infrared vision and immunity to nuclear radiation. While Sunfire is willing to do the right thing he is very temperamental and often treats his allies with nothing but contempt as while he does aid the X-Men in Krakoa he immediately leaves the team afterwards and has a very on-and-off relationship with them.

Colossus/Peter Rasputin

Colossus/Peter Rasputin
Name: Colossus/Peter Rasputin
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderately Low to Low, Strong, Kind, Gentle Giant, Russian Accent

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/X-Men/Colossus/

Appears in: Giant-Size X-Men

Bio: Piotr "Peter" Nikolaievitch Rasputin is a Russian Mutant (and to be more precise Siberian) who has the power of turning his skin into a metallic armor giving him Super-human strength and durability. Granted even when Piotr is not being the Colossus he is still quite the strong man as he is a very tall and muscular man who was a farm hand with his family but one day he used his powers to save his little sister in which then Professor X came in and invited Piotr to join the X-Men. One way to describe Piotr is that he is the consummate “Gentle Giant” of Marvel let alone X-Men as he is a genuinely kind man who often tries to avoid attacking people let alone killing and is more of a defender than an attacker. But while Piotr is known for his love of his family and the country life, he is also a skilled painter which is his favorite hobby.

John has felt disgusted at his own tribe for going soft and wants to prove his prowess in battle and show how tough he is and how strong an Apache can be. Voice Type: Moderate, Youthful, Rebellious

Reference Clips: https://youtu.be/qVaIfu1m8FY?t=9m14s & https://youtu.be/G-eAMjEgMic?t=17m51s

Appears in: Giant-Size X-Men

Bio: Alex Summers A.K.A Havok is the brother of X-Men Leader Cyclops in which when they were children they were separated soon after they became orphans (though the circumstances why often vary). Havok has the power to shoot and absorb energy blasts and is immune to his brother’s powers and vice-versa (though while he had a difficult time controlling his powers at first over the years he has gone a lot better in that as unlike Cyclops he doesn’t need to wear any sort of gear 24/7 to keep his powers in control.) One way to describe Alex Summers is that he has some “Sibling Rivalry” issues with his brother (which at times can escalate to Cain & Abel levels) as he often resents Scott for his authoritative leadership skills. However Cyclops is not the only X-Men member who he butts heads with as he is in a romantic triangle with Iceman over Lorna Dane/Polaris whom he and Lorna have been in a relationship for years. Havok’s debut was in Uncanny X-Men #54 in March of 1969 and has had a long love-hate relationship with the X-Men as he has been in other teams like X-Factor, Starjammers and the Avengers.

Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately Low, Youthful, Teenage (XMI1), Friendly

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/X-Men/Jean-Grey/

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1 & Giant-Size X-Men

Bio: Jean Grey is the initial lady to join the X-Men and was at first the only girl in the team. During Jean’s debut she was known as Marvel Girl in which while she has had other powers and personas over the years back during her early days in the X-Men she mainly had Telekinetic powers to use against her adversaries (and occasionally ward off her male team member’s advances). While just about all the guys have shown interest in Jean, Cyclops/Scott Summers was the one she had a long-time relationship with for years. While Jean was at first a bit uncertain over what kind of School Professor X is running she does become a good member of the team. Oh yes and while Jean plays a fairly prominent role in X-Men Issue 1 she only has 3 lines in Giant-Size X-Men.

(Note: Jean was a teenager in X-Men Issue 1 while she is a grown woman in Giant-Size X-Men, like Angel you can alter the voice a bit if you wish but it’s unnecessary.)

Spider-Man/Peter Parker

Spider-Man/Peter Parker
Name: Spider-Man/Peter Parker
Gender: Male
Age: Teenager
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately High, Teenage, Intellectual, Snarky, Very Emotional

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Spider-Man/Spider-Man/

Appears in: Amazing Fantasy, Amazing Spider-Man #1, Spidey #6

Bio: The titular protagonist of the Spider-Man franchise, Peter Parker is traditionally known as a high school boy whom is a science nerd and was raised by his elderly Aunt and Uncle. One day when Peter was at a Science Hall exhibit of a Radiation Ray device he was bitten by a Spider that was affected and then he discovers he now has powers like Wall Climbing, Super Strength and the ability to sense Danger. (He also created Web Shooters to go with his “Spider-Man” persona in which he does have a tendency to run out in inopportune times.) While Peter initially tried to use his newfound powers for profit at a Wrestling Match, when Tragedy strikes his family he vows to use his powers to fight crime. Oh yes and while there have been plenty of stories of Peter being a young man he is originally known as a Teenager in which he is in all 3 of these stories. Also Peter’s mood and behavior can often vary especially when he is Spider-Man as he can go from a cheerful young man with a very snarky sense of humor to a very moody young man who often blames himself a lot if something goes wrong. (Oh and also he tries very hard to maintain his secret identity for understandable reasons though it often causes him a lot of trouble.) One more thing, if you are cast as Spider-Man you will have a lot of lines as you will prominently appear in all 3 Spidey stories here
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.

While Flash and his friends would like to beat up nerds and smaller kids just for fun, Seymour was more into using insults than attacking anyone though. Jason does seem to have a thing for Sally Avril however it was unrequited as her feelings for him are platonic at best. But while Jason seems to have no qualms in bullying unpopular kids like Peter with Flash that doesn’t mean he is completely loyal to him though. In other words Jason won’t do things with Flash that would get him in trouble like go harass J.J Jameson for his vendetta against Spider-Man. J.J first became famous for writing editorials against Spider-Man to get the people of New York to hate him and running Spider-Man’s showbiz career instantly. However during his debut J.J was against Spider-Man for being a showboat that could be a bad influence to children, but he insists that people should be paying more attention to his beloved son John Jameson the astronaut. But while J.J.J is not a villain (well usually not) he has a strong desire to antagonize Spider-Man to often irrational levels and is not known for his sense of gratitude either.

Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards

Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards
Name: Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Intellectual, Calm, Firm

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Fantastic-Four/Mr-Fantastic/

Appears in: Amazing Spider-Man 1

Bio: Reed Richards is the Founder & Leader of the Fantastic Four (whom also later becomes Susan Storm’s husband). Mr. Fantastic’s powers is the ability to stretch any part of his body and he could use his elasticity in various ways such as he can flatten himself, make his body denser and more durable and use his body for tools like a hand glider & a lock pick so Reed can use his rubbery abilities in different ways. But while Reed can certainly use his powers for feats of strength (though not as much as Thing of course) his primary feature is his vast intellect as he is a well accomplished Scientist and Inventor. While Reed like many other known Scientists can get really fixated in his work over the years he can certainly be a good family man as well. As the Leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed often takes a firm but very fair approach as he is normally a voice of reason for the group and often mediates between Human Torch & the Thing’s petty squabbles.

The Thing/Ben Grimm

The Thing/Ben Grimm
Name: The Thing/Ben Grimm
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderately Low to Low, Very Gruff, Grumpy, Snarky, New Yorker Accent

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Fantastic-Four/The-Thing/

Appears in: Amazing Spider-Man 1

Bio: Ben Grimm A.K.A The Thing is a known member of the Fantastic Four (though other the years he has also had a known history with other groups like the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.) Before Ben became the Thing he was a Pilot and an Astronaut who is old friends with Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards but during that interstellar space shuttle trip that went awry with the Cosmic Radiation Waves that gave the Fantastic Four their powers Ben mutated into a large super-strong orange rock man now known as the Thing. While Ben has often desired the chance to regain his human form over the years he has come to terms with his rocky appearance and is a well known strong-man (who even often has a somewhat friendly rivalry with the Hulk). One other thing is his vitriolic friendship with Johnny “Human Torch” Storm as Johnny would often like to tease him in which Thing would often snark back at best to make angry threats at worst. So while the Thing may seem grumpy & abrasive he is a very down to earth guy who definitely does have a softer side to him.

Age: Teenager
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Teenage, Youthful, Friendly, Snarky, Cocky

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Fantastic-Four/Human-Torch/

Appears in: Amazing Spider-Man 1

Bio: Jonathan “Johnny” Storm is the younger brother of Susan Storm (later Richards) and is a known member of the Fantastic Four. Back during the early stories of the Fantastic Four Johnny was only a teenage boy during that fateful trip into Space in the Fantastic Four got their powers from Cosmic Radiation he has the ability to shoot and use flames and can change himself into a fiery man every time he shouts “Flame On!”. Johnny is well known for being a charismatic fun-loving guy who has a very snarky sense of humor in which his fellow team member Thing/Ben Grimm is one of his favorite targets. While Johnny may often come off as a smug cocky punk he is a well-meaning young man who does genuinely care for his team. Oh and Johnny loves to think of himself as a Ladies man and while he has had plenty of love interests over the years none of them end well (though it’s usually because of things like Heroic duties and not death).

Chameleon/Dmitri Smerdyakov

Chameleon/Dmitri Smerdyakov
Name: Chameleon/Dmitri Smerdyakov
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Raspy, Scheming, Russian Accent

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Spider-Man/Chameleon/

Appears in: Amazing Spider-Man 1

Bio: Dmitri Smerdyakov A.K.A The Chameleon is one of the various members of Spider-Man’s Rogues Gallery (and was actually the first one Spider-Man faced in the comics). Chameleon’s ability is his mastery of disguises in which he does so while committing robberies. In this story due to things like how Spider-Man tried to see the Fantastic Four out of financial desperation due to the negative articles that the Daily Bugle gave him, Chameleon decided to frame Spider-Man as he plans to steal the Missile Defense System plans from the Lark Building. While over the years Chameleon has served multiple evil organizations such as the Sinister Six and HYDRA, his origin team-up is with Kraven the Hunter since it is revealed that they are half-brothers.

(Note: Anyone playing this role will end up needing some vocal range, as while most of the lines will be done in a Russian accent when Chameleon is speaking as himself/thinking. But to alter his voice when he is disguised as someone like a guard, or a cop or Spider-Man himself. The 1st 3 Chameleon lines will be done via his voice while the other 3 will be when he impersonates someone else though if you are auditioning for this role I would recommend trying out for Spider-Man and the Lark Building Guards.)
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (Chameleon, Boastful Intro) HAH! Nothing can stop the Chameleon! With the right disguise, I can steal anything from anywhere, unchallenged!
2. (Chameleon, Excited to Intrigued) The Iron Curtain Countries will pay a fortune for these plans! Hmm… A T.V News Bulletin…"
Line 2:
"3. (Chameleon, Devious Scheming) There is only one reason Spider-Man would want to join the Fantastic Four! Being sought by the police, there is no way for him to earn a legitimate living! He must be for money! And this is where I come in! Spider-Man will make a perfect fall guy—for me! When I steal the second half of these Missile Defense Plans, I’ll have him put the police off my trail!
4. (Lark Building Guard A, Calm and Straight-forward) I’ll relieve you now!"
Line 3:
"5. (Cop, Stern & Angry Tone) HELP! Grab him! It’s the Chameleon, disguised as Spider-Man again!
6. (Spider-Man, Sinister Tone) My web will keep you a prisoner until I can escape!"

Adrian “Toomestone” Toomes is known as an Elderly Inventor who was swindled out of his company and its profits he uses his high-tech wing harness for larceny & revenge. The Vulture’s winged harness not only gives him the power of flight, it makes him superhumanly strong and the “feathers” on his wings are razor sharp. While Vulture has been a member of the Sinister Six and Sinister Twelve he often works alone and while he often works for the sake of larceny but has at time had other motives in mind (such as trying to find ways to make him young again.) But while Vulture has been around in the comics since Amazing Spider-Man in May of 1963, Spidey #6 is his debut in the Spidey continuity.

Iron Man/Tony Stark

Iron Man/Tony Stark
Name: Iron Man/Tony Stark
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately Low, Smooth, Snarky

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Iron-Man/Iron-Man/ or http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Iron-Man/Tony-Stark/

Appears in: Spidey #6 Making the Grade

Bio: Tony Stark is a well known Science Genius and Wealthy Playboy whom is the inventor and wearer of the Iron Man suit. Tony’s Iron Man suit has multiple weapons and abilities as his strong is very strong & durable and has multiple laser blasters within his suit. While Tony Stark is one of the good guys for sure he is a man whose vices are well known such as having a womanizing streak several miles wide and has a strong on-and-off relationship with Alcohol, not to mention is well known as a smug abrasively snarky jerk but is often a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. In Iron Man’s early years Tony Stark originally tried to make a cover story that Iron Man is his bodyguard and keeps the fact that he uses the Iron Man suit a secret, until it was realized that it caused him nothing but trouble so over the years it became public knowledge that Tony Stark is Iron Man. However since the Spidey comic series is an alternate modernized retelling of Spidey’s early years as a Super-Hero, Tony Stark trying to convince the populous that Iron Man is his bodyguard and a separate individual is in full-force here. Oh yes and in the Spidey comic series while he does use an A.I system to talk to in his suit but in the Spidey comic series it’s the more feminine F.R.I.D.A.Y.

(Note: In this story Tony never takes off his Iron Man suit so for most of his line I will requite you the potential VA to add vocal effects to your Iron Man voice. Only in occasional scenes where he is interacting with F.R.I.D.A.Y do we hear his unaltered voice. So while yes you should be careful and not apply the effects too thick but keep in mind in this story he is trying to deceive people into thinking that Iron Man is a separate individual so for most of his lines and for most of the Audition lines here I strongly recommend that you use some vocal effects in your Iron Man voice.)

2. (Tony Stark, Calm & Confident) Talk to me, Friday."
Line 2:
"3. (Iron Man, Annoyed but trying to be Reasonable) Look, it’s been a long day, Avengers Business and whatnot – and I’d really rather not have to blast you out of the sky, so—you’re just gonna keep running aren’t you?
4. (Iron Man, Defensive and trying to save face) Um, no. Nobody’s smart like me. I mean, smart like my boss. Handsome, charming billionaire Tony Stark."
Line 3:
"5. (Tony Stark, Surprised & Amused) Oh my god, he really is just a kid.

Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Calm, Firm

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Marvel-Universe/Agent-Coulson/

Appears in: Spidey #6 Making the Grade

Bio: Agent Phil Coulson is a prominent member of S.H.I.E.L.D who was created for the Marvel Cinematic Universe but became a known character in the comics and other adaptations (and is the star of the ABC TV series “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”.) Ever since Phil was a child he was very much a fan of Super Heroes and learned about them growing up and is glad to work with folks like Captain America and Iron Man as a dedicated S.H.I.E.L.D agent. While Phil does try to come off as a stoic serious agent he is actually one of the nicer folks in S.H.I.E.L.D and even has certain quirks like his love of cars (in which he affectionately refers his car “Lola”.) In the Spidey comic series he and other SH.I.E.L.D agents arrive to get Vulture when Iron Man and Spider-Man defeat him and he has a brief chat with Iron Man about what to do with Spidey. It’s also implied that Phil does know that Tony Stark is Iron Man or is at least aware of Iron Man’s intellect, and in this story he only has 4 lines.

While Sally like Liz and several other girls are attracted to Flash Thompson by his macho looks and personality but she is apparently rather close to Jason Ionello a fellow member of Flash’s Clique in goals like trying to figure out who Spider-Man is to get a reward from the Daily Bugle. (But while Jason has a crush on Sally her feelings for him are pretty much platonic.) Sally appears in both Amazing stories but has only one line in each.

Appears in: Amazing Fantasy, Amazing Spider-Man #1

Bio: One of the gals in Flash Thompson’s clique (who even dated Flash for a while, but lost interest in him when Spider-Man started to become more popular). While she like the other members of Flash’s clique would join in on ridiculing Peter Parker she wasn’t really malicious about it and unlike some of the other members started to grow a conscience around Peter and later on even show a softer side to him. But while Liz’s romantic interests did differ over her High School years but over time she became Harry Osborn’s wife and they even had a son together and had a good life (until Harry started to follow in his old man’s footsteps regarding the Green Goblin). While Liz Allen was a normal human all through the years in the Prime Marvel Universe she has also been Firestar in some alternate universe stories. Liz appears in both Amazing Stories and has only has 2 lines in both stories here.

Age: Old/Senior
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate to Moderately High, Kind, Motherly, Concerned, Elderly

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Spider-Man/Aunt-May/

Appears in: Amazing Fantasy, Amazing Spider-Man #1

Bio: Peter Parker’s caring aunt who became a widow after Spider-Man’s debut story (though over the years she has been with multiple men such as Dr. Octopus, Willie Lumpkin, J.J Jameson’s Father, etc.). While May is traditionally quite elderly (until recently but that’s a different story) but she always puts Peter’s well-being first as she tries to take care of her nephew especially ever since after her husband Ben’s tragic demise. Likewise Peter Parker is also very protective of Aunt May in which as Spider-Man he is willing to go to many lengths to save her. However while May does care very much for her dear nephew there have been plenty of older stories where Aunt May believes the Daily Bugle’s hateful articles on Spider-Man and thinks that Spidey is a menace too. Oh yes and while May appears in both Amazing stories she only has 3 lines in both stories.

Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Kind, Caring

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Fantastic-Four/Invisible-Woman/

Appears in: Amazing Spider-Man #1

Bio: Susan Storm (later Richards) is the original (and for many years only) female member of the Fantastic Four. Sue is known as Johnny Storm’s elder sister and that she becomes Reed Richards wife (however she is often desired by Reed’s rivals & adversaries such as Namor the Sub-Mariner and his arch-foe Dr. Doom). While over the years Invisible Girl gained different powers such as force fields and energy projectiles of hard light, her initial (and at first only) power is that she can turn herself invisible at will. Oh yes and while Reed can easily be seen as Team Dad of the Fantastic Four she is clearly Team Mom as she is often concerned for others and has tried to keep some of Reed’s & Johnny’s personality problems in check.

Audition Lines:
Line 1:

Line 2:
"2. (Slightly Surprised) Afraid you made a mistake, Spider-Man! We’re a non-profit organization!"

Gwen Stacy

Gwen Stacy
Name: Gwen Stacy
Gender: Female
Age: Teenager
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderately High, Cute, Friendly, Smart, Teenage

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Spider-Man/Gwen-Stacy/

Appears in: Spidey #6 Making the Grade

Bio: Gwendolyn “Gwen” Stacey is a rather prominent female supporting role in the Spider-Man franchise (who recently became a Spider-Girl but that is a different story). While Gwen is well known for having a history with Peter Parker however his relationship with him (and to a lesser extent Harry Osborn) to just good friends or his one true love can highly vary. However Gwen is the daughter of Police Captain George Stacy and while they may occasionally disagree on things like Costumed Vigilantes they do have a good loving relationship. Gwen’s debut in the comics was in Amazing Spider-Man #31 in December of 1965, while Gwen came off as a bit uptight and standoffish to Peter during her debut but it wasn’t long until she became considerably sweeter & nicer. In the “Spidey” continuity her story is not all that much different from her main story except that her teacher Mr. Maxwell assigned her and Peter to tutor each-other and she was dating Flash Thompson. (Though not too worry folks, the latter is temporary.)

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (Reassuring and a little Smug) I’m sure you did great, Peter. You have like the world’s greatest tutor.
2. (Slightly Confused) Wait, what were you saying about the --?"

Line 3:

F.R.I.D.A.Y

F.R.I.D.A.Y
Name: F.R.I.D.A.Y
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderately Low to Low, Calm, Soothing, Robotic, Kind, European Accent (Optional)

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Iron-Man/Friday/

Appears in: Spidey #6 Making the Grade

Bio: F.R.I.D.A.Y is Iron Man’s backup/alternate A.I program in his suit that made her debut in Iron Man Vol. 3 #53 in June of 2002. Tony initially called her Friday as a reference to “His Girl Friday” as a Secretary AI whom initially had a child-like persona at first until she started to act rebellious when he started to neglect her. But after Tony got F.R.I.D.A.Y to spend some time in the Baxter Building she cooled off and became a good assistant to Tony Stark, in which while she initially had a child-like presence her appearance became more like a young woman. However in other adaptations/stories like the Marvel Cinematic Universe to even the “Spidey” series she has the voice and mentality of a young woman right from the start. To be more precise in the “Spidey” series she is Iron Man’s AI program who is Tony’s assistant who tries to get Tony to be a bit more sensitive to others namely Spider-Man.

(Note: It’s highly recommended that you add in some vocal effects to make your F.R.I.D.A.Y voice sound a bit robotic and if you like you can lower the pitch as well if necessary.)

Line 3:

Stan Lee Intro/Outtro

Stan Lee Intro/Outtro
Name: Stan Lee Intro/Outtro
Gender: Male
Age: Old/Senior
Characteristics/Notes:
Voice Type: Moderate, Slightly Rough, Friendly, Energetic, Elderly, New Yorker Accent

Reference Clips: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Stan-Lee/

Appears in: X-Men Issue 1, Amazing Fantasy introducing Spider-Man

Bio: Stan “The Man” Lee, legendary Comic Book Writer, prominent force in Marvel and the co-creator of several Marvel franchises such as X-Men & Spider-Men (among various others). While Stan has often played the role of Narrator since the 80s over the years he is well known for his several cameos often dong various side jobs like Hog Dog Vendor, Janitor, Security Guard and even Mayor. (Though he has at times played characters before such as Marvel characters like Willy Lumpkin from Fantastic Four to occasionally Non-Marvel roles like Papa Smurf from the Smurfs in MAD TV.) In this production for X-Men Issue 1 and Amazing Fantasy #15, you will get to do the opening and ending lines in Stan Lee’s voice (while I will be doing the rest of the narration). So basically just try to do your best Stan Lee impression.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"1. (X-Men Issue 1 Opening) In the main study of an exclusive private school in New York’s Manchester County, a strange silent man sits motionless, brooding… alone with his indescribable thoughts… Finally, his meditation comes to an end! Then while he remains completely motionless, a sharp commanding thought rings out, echoing through the great halls of the building! Never within the memory of man, was there a “class” such as this! Never was a “teacher” such as Professor X! And never were there “students” such as the… X-MEN!"
Line 2:
"2. (X-Men Issue 1 Ending) You have just finished the newest, most unusual tale in the annals of modern magazines! But the best is yet to come! For fantasy at its greatest, don’t miss issue #2 of X-Men, the Strangest Super-Heroes of all!"
Line 3:
"3. (Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man Opening) Like Costume Heroes? Confidentially, we in the comic mag business refer to them as “Long Underwear Characters”! And, as you know they are a dime a dozen! But, we think you may find our Spiderman just a bit… different!
4. (Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man Ending) And a lean, silent figure slowly fades into the gathering darkness, aware at last that in this world, with great power there must also come—great responsibility! And so a legend is born and a new name is added to the roster of those who make the world of fantasy the most exciting realm of all!"

HELP
  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• Why is there a limit to 4 active projects per member?
While a project owner is welcome to have as many active projects running as they wish outside BTVA, the limit is imposed because having too many active projects can be somewhat "unrealistic". We want those who are auditioning to feel that each project is getting the attention and quality it deserves given auditioners themselves are putting in their own time and effort. Once a project owner flags a project as "Completed", they are welcome to create a new project.
• Can I audition more than once for a character?
The system is built to allow ONE audition per character. This is to avoid having a number of auditions from the same member and making the project owner have to listen to all of them. For now, if you or the project owner wishes you to submit another audition, the project owner will need to "Delete" your audition. The project owner can do this in the "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link.
• How do I flag a character as being Cast?
As a project owner you will see a "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link for each character. Clicking it will allow you to Cast, Backup or Pass an audition. Casting a character will prevent new auditions from being submitted for that character.
• Why do I need a valid email address?
If you audition for a project and are cast in a role, you will notified by email.
