He is a somewhat strange, but kind young man whom Ib finds and rescues in the gallery. He decides to travel with Ib after she returns his rose to him, and seeks to find a way for them both to escape.
He supposedly has a traditionally feminine personality, mostly depicted through his use of the Japanese equivalent of lavender linguistics (though this was mostly lost during the English translation). It is unspecified as to why he talks like this, aside from having 'taken to it', and believing it to be more gentle.
Garry also tends to react more noticeably to frightening experiences, and can be rather audible about it. This is especially striking when noting how generally unresponsive Ib can be towards some of the scary imagery throughout the museum.

She is a short, 9 year old girl, with dark hair, red eyes, and wears a white long-sleeved shirt adorned with a red bow, that is similar to Mary's neckerchief, matching her skirt.
b's personality varies depending on the player's choices. In other words, Ib's personality is unknown, because it is built up by the player. The player's choices of her personality affect the game's ending (ex. The choices the player makes affect the way Ib talks to and acts towards Garry or Mary). However, Ib is shown as extremely brave, quiet, nice, and kind. She is also very sensitive to others as she felt sorry for Mary when she had to leave her behind. Unlike Garry, she doesn't express or show her feelings too much. Because of her age, Ib is very innocent and naïve. She can't read certain words in the gallery and doesn't understand much of what is going on. As an example, in any of the endings where Garry dies, Ib, upon seeing his body, will think that he is "sleeping."

Mary seems to be a cute, cheerful girl at first glance, although she is also impatient and often misunderstands things. As the game progresses, it becomes obvious that she is mentally unstable. Mary's behavior may be the sort of behavior her painter, Guertena, imagined her to have.

Mary dislikes Garry, since she envies his relationship with Ib and wishes to use him as her replacement in the Fabricated World. Even if she doesn't show it, Mary trusts Garry. She demonstrates this in A Painting's Demise when she calls for his help.
It should be noted that, though Mary may be as mentally developed as an adult, she retains a child-like naivety. As a painting, she is out of touch with reality. This is shown in a A Painting's Demise when she cries out for her creator, Guertena, to save her, unaware of his death years before. Additionally, in Welcome to the World of Guertena, she claims a book telling her of the need to have friends, showing how little experience she has dealing with others.
Although Mary is, technically, the main antagonist of the game, she is, by no means, an evil character; rather, just very lonely, as she wanted to leave her world to be with others.
