About the project:

"Monster Hunter: the Lost Civilization", written by dashboardgecko, is an action/adventure fanfiction set in the Monster Hunter universe, primarily focused around Monster Hunter Tri and its expansion Ultimate. It currently stands as one of the most popular Monster Hunter fanfictions on FF.net, as well as one of its longest. Because of this, the project team has decided to divide the fanfiction into several parts for the sake of production time and quality. The radio-play will be released in a audio-book format, with an omniscient narrator to keep the action paced, and to hold a better sway over the narrative without confusing or leaving the audience behind. The finished parts will be uploaded to the project's youtube page on a bi-monthly basis, so please make sure you have the time to commit to this project before auditioning.

Source Summary:

Since beyond living memory, great and fantastic beasts have roamed the world, and mankind has fought them; some for glory, some to protect others, but always the monsters have been there. But when legions of mysterious people appear, engulfed in strange blue light, bearing deep wounds of both mind and body, strange things begin to happen, and a darkness unlike any other awakens.

A member of the Lost, the people of a destroyed civilization, and aspiring monster hunter, Levin wishes to find his parents, planning to become a well known monster hunter in the hopes that his fame will cause them to find him. He is a headstrong young man, that carries himself with enough pride to know his strength but enough humility to know when to rely on others.

While he is easygoing and wisecracking as a friend, he can be a berserker as a hunter when wielding a greatsword. As Marshall's protege, he has had time to adjust himself to Theron and now serves as a partner to Eleanor's own trials as a fellow apprentice.

Voice: Medium/Medium-Low and carry a upbeat, friendly tone to your voice.

A newly awakened Lost, Eleanor is haunted by memories of a monster attack on her family prior to her awakening. As a result, she wishes to become a powerful enough hunter to find them as well as find the monster responsible for the attack. She carries a more serious tone to herself as compared to Levin, often getting ticked at Levin's comments, but is not so humorless as to not laugh at them once in a while.

Because of her traumatic experience, she carries a great hatred for monsters which manifests as a sadistic coldness during hunts. In spite of this, she is smart and fast enough to assess most hunting situations, as well a crackshot with a bowgun.

Voice Type: Medium, calm but confident tone.

Characteristics/Notes:
Wise, assertive, and indomitable with a hammer, Marshall is a veteran hunter that holds a near legendary status in Theron. Following a chain of events in his past however, he has given up serious monster hunting and has instead retired to become a master to the younger generation as well as raise his grandson peace.

Unlike many hammer users in the world, he never uses anger as a lever for his attacks, preferring a calm and calculated approach to hunting. In spite of his age, he carries a deep amount of presence to his voice as well a sense of respect for both land and the monster than inhabit it.

Voice Type: Low, a tone that commands respect but is not imposing.

Harker

Mad genius is the best phrase to describe Harker. While not necessarily insane, he is nonetheless an unorthodox hunter and eccentric even for a Lost. In spite of being a hunter, he considers himself more of a researcher than a hunter as he seeks to better understand the world, the monsters, and all of its mysteries.

Harker keeps to a very calm and even soothing demeanor, like a scientist studying and observing, but once he's excited for a discovery he switches to a more curious and even scarily inquisitive tone. In spite of this, he is surprisingly considerate of others, particularly his master Kerrigan, and doesn't mind the label of crazy he has accrued.

Voice Type: Medium and don't go too overboard with the excited tone.

The child of a prodigy hunter, Kerrigan hopes to follow in her father's footsteps and took on the incredible challenge of being Harker's teacher. Oftentimes serving as the voice of reason to Harker's madness, she oftentimes feels that her actions at keeping him alive may be in vain.

Kerrigan hates formalities, even from her student, and the fact that she doesn't gain much respect from other because of her age. In spite of this, she is assertive enough to stand up for herself when the time calls for it and would gladly be the first to throw a punch.

  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• Why does my MP3 not upload?
We understand that some users are getting errors when uploading MP3 files. Certain encodings will not be compatible with the upload code. Originally Audacity saved MP3s worked at the time Casting Call was written. However the software may have changed the way it saves MP3s. At an unknown future time, the process will change where auditions will be recorded and saved directly on the site. In the meantime, please ask fellow members who have success with MP3 uploads how they are saving/encoding their files. Thanks and apologies for the inconvenience.
• Why is there a limit to 4 active projects per member?
While a project owner is welcome to have as many active projects running as they wish outside BTVA, the limit is imposed because having too many active projects can be somewhat "unrealistic". We want those who are auditioning to feel that each project is getting the attention and quality it deserves given auditioners themselves are putting in their own time and effort. Once a project owner flags a project as "Completed", they are welcome to create a new project.
• Can I audition more than once for a character?
The system is built to allow ONE audition per character. This is to avoid having a number of auditions from the same member and making the project owner have to listen to all of them. For now, if you or the project owner wishes you to submit another audition, the project owner will need to "Delete" your audition. The project owner can do this in the "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link.
• How do I flag a character as being Cast?
As a project owner you will see a "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link for each character. Clicking it will allow you to Cast, Backup or Pass an audition. Casting a character will prevent new auditions from being submitted for that character.
• Why do I need a valid email address?
If you audition for a project and are cast in a role, you will notified by email.
• How do I contact members cast for a project?
You can contact members using Private Messaging feature available here in the forums.
