Description:
This will be a 20-minute radio drama that is part of a six part anthology series. The project is a non-profit to get more people considering theatre in ways they wouldn't have imagined before.

This piece is a take on classic children's radio plays with a dark twist. We are looking for a creepy narrator as well as two people on a news team. The narrator will read a bulk of the lines, whereas the news team have smaller but vital roles. In the past, we have found that actors prefer us to send out scripts so they are able to record in their own time, and have done this for three episodes already. We have been relaxed with deadlines, however we believe that this play in particular could be completed fairly quickly for those involved!

The episode will be released this summer on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, TuneIn, Google Podcasts and other major platforms for free (we will be running ads on the episodes to cover server maintenance costs, the actors will be emailed a clean ad free version). Additionally, we offer free graphic design, sound editing, script writing/editing services to the actors as a way of repayment.

We welcome all levels of experience and anyone is free to audition! If you wish to send us your audition through email, you are free to do so in our contact details above. Good luck!

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"Tonight in New York, the play 'Foiled Again!' closes on Broadway this evening, the 1920s melodrama directed by Stephen Turner has faced a series of negative reviews from critics, and after closing after only a few months, the play's losses are expected to be in the millions. We turn to our entertainment correspondent, Aaron Kingston, for more. What exactly was it that killed "Foiled Again!'?"
Line 2:
"The show faced several rumours of a hostile working environment. Did this contribute to the play's downfall? Do you have any final thoughts on the play?"
Line 3:
"Interesting stuff, Aaron, thank you for being here with us tonight. And that's all from us here in the studio. We'll be back here from 6am tomorrow. Until then, good evening New York."

Correspondent (Aaron Kingston)

NO

Name: Correspondent (Aaron Kingston)
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
An entertainment correspondent for a news station in New York. He relays what critics are saying to the audience.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"'Foiled Again!' was pretty much loathed by critics from opening night. You have cheesy dialogue, questionable casting choices and unfunny jokes galore. Some fans of the show have come out in its defence saying that it is simply a parody of the 1920s melodrama, and I could see maybe a real cult audience developing for it in a few years. The show was successful with the artists in town, celebrities like Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon were regularly seen in the audience, but that wasn't enough to have the financial success it needed to stay in business."
Line 2:
"The gossip magazines loved this play purely because of how many stories it produced with its stars. Maria Oliva is one star that has had her name dragged through the mud. I'm hearing reports tonight that one of its stars, Tyler Birch, has actually left acting altogether. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a massive hit to everyone involved."
Line 3:
""Foiled Again!", whilst maybe great as baby's first melodrama, does nothing in terms of entertainment value and audience connection. Totally lacking in good morals or any tenderness whatsoever, it should remain in classrooms where it belongs. It might mean a lot to some, but ultimately should be performed by any professional production house."

Creepy Narrator

NO
IMAGE
Name: Creepy Narrator
Gender: N/A
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
They tell the story of two friends, Celeste and Arabella, in a sticky situation. They read the text in a very dramatic fashion. At first the narrator seems kind and welcoming, but soon is seen as dark and mysterious as the story turns sinister. We suggest Mick Miller's Noddy comedy routine for inspiration!

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"Good morning kids, are you all sitting around the radio? Welcome to the Celeste Programme. What exciting new adventure will she go on today? She wakes up in the treehouse. Can you hear her? Shes filling the sink with water."
Line 2:
"She drives out of her driveway and through the village. She drives past the bakery. The baker waves as she goes by, Celeste waves back. She drives by the flower shop, the florist waves and Celeste waves back."
Line 3:
"I trust that if you carried on doing what I thought you were doing, that you would know that eventually I would come to visit you again, Celeste warned the boy. Are you threatening me? he replies. Celeste didnt like that, did she? She picks up the phone and ties the cord around the boys neck. She squeezes and squeezes until he turns blue and falls to the ground dead."

HELP
  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• Why is there a limit to 4 active projects per member?
While a project owner is welcome to have as many active projects running as they wish outside BTVA, the limit is imposed because having too many active projects can be somewhat "unrealistic". We want those who are auditioning to feel that each project is getting the attention and quality it deserves given auditioners themselves are putting in their own time and effort. Once a project owner flags a project as "Completed", they are welcome to create a new project.
• Can I audition more than once for a character?
The system is built to allow ONE audition per character. This is to avoid having a number of auditions from the same member and making the project owner have to listen to all of them. For now, if you or the project owner wishes you to submit another audition, the project owner will need to "Delete" your audition. The project owner can do this in the "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link.
• How do I flag a character as being Cast?
As a project owner you will see a "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link for each character. Clicking it will allow you to Cast, Backup or Pass an audition. Casting a character will prevent new auditions from being submitted for that character.
• Why do I need a valid email address?
If you audition for a project and are cast in a role, you will notified by email.
