Description:
This is the initial warning I've placed in my videos as well as the forums regarding this project: This series is not for anyone. It's going to be directed for a mature audience due to things such as violence, harsh language, sexual innuendo, substance abuse, and other adult themes. If you're not okay with this, that's completely understandable, just know that this is not the project for you. Also, there are hetero, homo, and bisexual relationships throughout the series. If this is something that bothers you, that's your opinion and it's totally fine, but the project isn't for you. Thank you for your time.

For those of you that don't find offense to these things, let me get started. Breaking Heights is the name of an original animated series I'm beginning. The series is and always will be free, and this means there is no available pay. Credit, yes- Profit, no. Please make sure this is something you'll enjoy and want to do and will want to be a part of for some time. There's one person writing, animating, and drawing the entire series, so please keep that in mind.

There will be links with way more information as well as scripts to follow, but here is a short description of the project itself.

Breaking Heights is a city corrupted by crime and corporate greed. It's the perfect place for our 'heroes' to step in and take over. Led by a brother and sister team, the nameless group of rejects, thugs, and those too desperate to do anything else with their lives have slowly started to crawl up the food chain. Libby- the Boogeyman to some, a simple psychopath to others- and her older brother Rod- a more cunning, yet equally as cruel individual- have become a problem for both the law and those paying or blackmailing for their diplomatic immunity. The unanimous decision has been made: This is a problem that must be attended to. However, after enlisting the help of notorious hitman The Sandman (earning that reputation for killing targets in their sleep), the hunter not only becomes the cliche hunted but is also taken along for the ride. And it's nothing short of a trip to hell and back.

The first casting call has begun and will end on June 30, 2014. There are currently three main roles and a minor role for the ladies, and four main roles for the gentlemen. In addition to that, there are several singular roles (meaning that those roles cover one episode).

This is the forum in Voice Acting Alliance, which has all the details for auditioning including videos regarding the characters as well as the scripts for each curently available character: http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?93160-Breaking-Heights-animated-series-Auditions-OPEN&p=1328417#post1328417

And this is the website, which has an audition page as well as a bit more information about the story and characters: http://breakingheights.webs.com/

BIG EDIT: I've just kind of gotten used to the site, so let me include some information I've either failed to remember or was too worried about other things to include at the time.

Information regarding callbacks and 'take' messages: Callbacks will only be held if a role receives 16+ auditions. If you get a callback, that means you're auditioning for that character again and will be provided ample information when the situation occurs. However, 'take' messages will be sent to those who didn't get the part they wanted, but there may be another part either in this take or in the future that would be well-suited for you- There are a lot of other characters coming up in later takes that haven't been shown yet. However, I will never immediately and without warning cast you for a character you didn't try out for. You will always be asked about any other role besides the one you auditioned for.

The deadline, as stated, is June 30, 2014. Announcements, however, won't be made until July 3, 2014. This is so I can review everything one last time and maybe put together a video for the parts that were cast. Something nice, you know? Now, disregarding callbacks, if you're chosen for a part then you have a week after July 3 to either confirm or deny that you still want the part. I'll take no message during that time frame as a 'no'.

Also, in regards to the audition scripts, I've given both a link to the forum with the originals (which include character information and voice direction) as well as the three basic lines on this website. You can audition for either one, but I highly, highly, highly recommend you at least look at the forum or the website so you have an idea of the character.

Please feel free to contact me at my e-mail projectbreakingheights@gmail.com regarding any other questions about the project I may have left unanswered. Thank you very much, and I look forward to working with you.

Libby

Libby
Name: Libby
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-Has no definite age, but appears to be in her early-to-mid twenties. She's had to go through some extreme situations to get where she is today, and her voice should reflect that. Therefore, her voice should not be too feminine but not too 'butch'.

-Libby is in a lesbian relationship in the series. If this is a problem, this is understandable, but know that you won't get that part. Please see other female parts and/or check back for one of our later casting calls. There are many roles we plan to add.

-This is a main role.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"I don't go outside when it rains. I think it's nature's way of saying... 'Everything you do will be terrible today, so don't even try'."
Line 2:
"I'm just thinking of all the terrible things I'd like to do to you. I've got quite the list going. Would you like to hear some of them? Nah, I'll just show you."
Line 3:
"I've had enough of your attitude."

Rod

Rod
Name: Rod
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-Libby's older brother, whose age is not specified, either. He does appear to be in his early-to-mid thirties (possibly very late twenties). He's been with Libby since the beginning and the two are very close. He's more calculative and cunning than his sister, and can be called the brains of the operation.

-This is a main role.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"I wouldn't take another step, if I were you. You're on my field and you know nothing about it."
Line 2:
"Remember our little run-in a few weeks ago? I wouldn't count on me forgetting that any time soon... Though, there are a few things you could probably do to clog my memory. Get it?"
Line 3:
"It's going to happen. How it happens is entirely dependent on your behavior."

Sapora

Sapora
Name: Sapora
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-Is 22 when the series begins. She's the hitman- The Sandman- that's hired to take out the siblings, but doesn't get too far before the tables are turned on her. She's a bit more subservient and calmer than Libby, but her attitude can change in an instant. However, for the most part, her voice has a smooth, calm quality.

-Sapora is also in a later lesbian relationship. Same rules apply to her as they do Libby. If this isn't your thing, please take a look at other roles available and/or come back to another casting when more female roles will become available.

-Sapora is Hispanic. I made a note of this in her script, but here's the very short version. No accent is better than a bad one. If you do have an accent or can make one sound believable, then feel free to incorporate it. Also, if you speak Spanish, I'll be happy to work with that as well.

-This is a main role.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"This is the kind of company you keep? I recognize a few faces... And I'm sure they recognize me, too. You better keep your word about the 'protection' you promised me."
Line 2:
"Upset? Of course I'm upset- I've been up for hours wondering if you're going to kill me or not."
Line 3:
"Could you repeat that?"

Thrash

Thrash
Name: Thrash
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-Is 25 when the series begins. Thrash is youthful and capable. Unfortunately, his betters often make him the butt of their jokes. He is in no way incompetent, but can get stressed in more dangerous situations. He is generally good-tempered, however. Please note that even though he is younger, he isn't a boy and shouldn't sound like one.

-This is a main role.

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Make fun of the hair- It's the purple elephant in the room, I get it. At least I beat you to the joke."
Line 2:
"We've all got a history. Not all of use choose to share it... Unless, of course, it catches up to us."
Line 3:
"You want to go home? Then you'll do what we tell you to."

Gordon

NO
IMAGE
Name: Gordon
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-Is 35 when the series begins. This is the mechanic for the group, mainly dealing with constructing vehicles for the gang as well as for his own purposes. He is an older man and his voice should be gruff. He's terse, direct, and doesn't tolerate nonsense.

-Is a secondary-main character in the series. What that means is he appears in nearly every episode, but doesn't have a lot to say all the time.

Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"What's that? The engine hurts your ears? No, no- That's the sound of sweet music.""
Line 2:
"You watch it. I'll tear you a new one if you pull that stunt again."
Line 3:
"If it needs to get done, then it needs to get done."

Bomber

NO
IMAGE
Name: Bomber
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-His age is never specified, but appears to be in his twenties. Not a whole lot is known about him, either. All that is known is his love for engineering explosive devices. There is no 'normal tone' for this character, as his voice is shrill and strained to certain degrees.

-This is a secondary-main character. What this means is he is in nearly every episode, but doesn't have a lot to say all the time.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"Get that thing away from me! I'm allergic to shrimp, crabs, lobster- All shellfish! I've told everyone a hundred times and no one remembers? None of you remember? Gah!"
Line 2:
"It's hard to get any peace and quiet around here- Sometimes I think it's impossible!"
Line 3:
"That's a lot of gunpowder... Can... Can I have it?"

Colette

Colette
Name: Colette
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Characteristics/Notes:
-She's in her early twenties when the series begins, around 20 or 21. Colette is a journalist by day, 'professional busybody' by night. She is constantly tasked with gathering information about various men and women in more prestigious positions. Colette is very energetic and youthful, but can come off a bit immature. For example, she refers to herself as a 'professional busybody' rather than a 'private eye' or 'private investigator'. She is, however, witty and clever- as she's had to get herself out of more than one potentially dangerous situation.

-This is a minor role.
You need to be to audition. If you do not have an account, please click here to register.
Audition Lines:
Line 1:
"You always give me the best projects! Well... Granted, they've gotten me into more trouble than anything else- But they're still fun!""
Line 2:
"I know you don't pay me to give my opinion, but that's one case I wouldn't even touch. Think about that."
Line 3:
"Alright! I'll get right to work!""

HELP
  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• Why is there a limit to 4 active projects per member?
While a project owner is welcome to have as many active projects running as they wish outside BTVA, the limit is imposed because having too many active projects can be somewhat "unrealistic". We want those who are auditioning to feel that each project is getting the attention and quality it deserves given auditioners themselves are putting in their own time and effort. Once a project owner flags a project as "Completed", they are welcome to create a new project.
• Can I audition more than once for a character?
The system is built to allow ONE audition per character. This is to avoid having a number of auditions from the same member and making the project owner have to listen to all of them. For now, if you or the project owner wishes you to submit another audition, the project owner will need to "Delete" your audition. The project owner can do this in the "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link.
• How do I flag a character as being Cast?
As a project owner you will see a "Edit Character/Manage Auditions" link for each character. Clicking it will allow you to Cast, Backup or Pass an audition. Casting a character will prevent new auditions from being submitted for that character.
• Why do I need a valid email address?
If you audition for a project and are cast in a role, you will notified by email.
