Default Possibility of game mods falling under either Union or Non-Union auspices

It's a long standing theory I've been working on. If a voice actor voices modded characters or voices a character created for a specific mod of an existing game, would it fall under Union patronage?

I'm not really sure if an acting union, SAG-AFTRA for example, would be too keen on approving a, presumably, unofficial mod for a game.

Not automatically, no.

If they make agreements with SAG-AFTRA then maybe, but yeah, mods are in that legal grey area where I doubt they're on any union's radar.

Same way. UK unions probably same way. Any union. I was just using SAG-AFTRA as an example since I assumed that was the primary union OP was discussing. I've noticed Canadian/UK/etc. unions tend to be fairly invisible to most VO fans compared to the US ones.

largely because there are far, far more works that are SAG-AFTRA-contracted than anything else in the voiceover world
