NYAV Gundam Seed Full Cast List

I'm definitely curious about certain talent on this using stage names. I was under the impression NYAV dubs were all Union. Although I guess there are plenty of other reasons people would use pseudonyms.

No, NYAV has been mostly non-union throughout its existence, their recent stuff for Netflix and Disney being the major exception. Outside of Mobile Suit Gundam TV and Char's Counterattack, I believe all of the dubs produced by Sunrise have been non-union as well.

Although I guess there are plenty of other reasons people would use pseudonyms.

While pseudonyms have been known to make it into union cast lists due to screwups by the studio, what an actor is credited as in a union production is actually regulated by the union to ensure that every actor has a unique name. If their desired name is already taken when joining, an actor has to choose something else, and once chosen they can't simply choose to use something else without SAG's permission.

Outside of Hathaway's Flash (which had Netflix's money), I don't believe any of the post-Bandai Entertainment Gundam dubs have been union productions. If these SEED redubs were, they'd really have no excuse to replace Trevor Devall.

I guess my confusion comes from Stephanie Sheh having stated in the past she doesn't support Union actors doing Non-union work and a handful of Union folks, including her, are peppered across all kinds of NYAV stuff including Gundam.


EDIT: After looking into the Destiny cast that are confirmed nearly everyone listed is Union so I'm double confused haha.

Series maybe but a lot of their movies are union productions. Promare, Tokyo Godfathers, and MFKZ to name a few.

Well, Sheh seemed somewhat dismissive of the Bandai-era Gundam dubs back when the SEED redub was announced. I expect they would have focused on doing their own thing even if the dub was union.

Most of these actors almost certainly financial core, which means they still pay membership dues and can work on union shows, but are no longer proper union members and do not have to follow SAG's rules and restrictions.

Ah, I'm not all that familiar with GKIDS, but you're right it looks like they're ponying up for union dubs as well.

LA anime dubs have become so muddled that it's hard to tell who is or isn't a union member. I think the only surefire sign is if they're working on Crunchyroll's and Funimation's dubs.

Ok so the bluray this time around doesn't list the entire cast in every episode instead only crediting the actors that appear in the specific episode. I went through the 50 episodes and wrote down every name that appears. Here is a pic showing an episode's cast list to verify I have the bluray if that matters. Thanks for posting this. I added most of them, but it looks like there are a couple of characters we don't have images for yet. Lally, Duncan and Adam are part of the Logos council, Miller is probably part of the Girty Lue crew. I'll see if I can get them added as well.
