Default Subforum Guidelines

1. INCLUDE A SOURCE
If you *think* something is a mistake but don't actually have any evidence to back it up/haven't looked into all sides of the situation, then don't post it. There's a chance that, contrary to what you may believe, you're the one making a mistake by thinking it's a mistake (oho...! sick burn... how do you like them apples... no...?). Some things are also not mistakes at all but also deliberate choices (e.g. choosing to list voice actors, characters, or titles under certain names instead of others - we have internal guidelines that we follow when naming pages). This last point ties into #3.

2. DON'T BE PRETENTIOUS, RUDE, OR A KNOW-IT-ALL
Remember all the age-old adages about winning arguments on the internet - at the end of the day it's all trivial, so there's no need to act high and mighty about stuff that's basically irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. This isn't a harshly enforced rule (unless it becomes repeated and/or noticeably aggressive), but it's good to keep in mind to avoid looking pompous or overly self-righteous.

3. NITPICKS
We're mostly concerned about stuff that affects the actual content of the database sections of the site. Random nitpicks that don't get in the way of conveying information, not so much. If your thread idea is something like, "in this top 10 list from 2009, you said 'their' instead of 'there'" or then you might want to think twice.

4. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE
I can personally guarantee this: the admins check the forums like a hawk and see virtually every new thread that's made. Yes, we have seen your post, but no, we unfortunately may not always be able to respond immediately. We may 1. be incredibly busy, 2. need to take time to look into things ourselves, 3. run into technical difficulties, or 4. some other reason I can't think of. There's also plenty of stuff that we may be aware of ourselves but not be able to get to on our ends for the above reasons as well. Please be patient.

5. IF YOU'RE HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS ON YOUR END, PM AN ADMIN
Make sure it's not just you. If it's a sitewide thing we're probably aware of it and will let you know ourselves.

Other things to keep in mind:

- If a TV show, movie, or game is not publicly listed in the A-Z searches, and clicking on its links redirects you to the main page, this is normal. The page is a work in progress and not set for public viewing.

- Keep in mind the "newness" or "visibility" of a page before posting something. For example, with brand new pages or VAs in the birthday spotlight, please allow some time for us to double-check that everything is fine before making a post.

- If you see an incorrect image, try clearing your cache by reflecting the page. It's possible that it has been updated since your last visit (especially with new pages where sometimes our fingers slip when uploading images).

- There are certain things that cannot be fixed without manually editing the site (e.g. the names seen on polls, the title voice compare clips are attached to). As such, please do not try to worry too much about these as you see them, because we're more than likely already aware and have queued them to be fixed.

Also in the future this section may become more organized, so dedicated threads will be set up for various areas instead of creating a new thread every time (e.g. one for wrong credits, one for typo'd names, etc.)

I want to draw attention to this. Please remember that rushing to be "first" isn't everything especially since not everyone is awake at the same time.

For one final important clarification, a "mistake" refers to information that is incorrect, not incomplete. The request forums are used for new information.

Please do not tag admin/mods' names when you are creating the thread title. This is something we do ourselves in order to determine how to divvy up work among whoever would be most knowledgeable/responsible regarding the title/actor/credit in question.

Giving this particular thing a good ol' bump.
