browsing on ANN and I noticed Voicebox apparently handled the dubbing of Sigma 6...which would have made sense had it been with the Vancouver talent pool. I find this kind of baffling actually. any answers anyone? |

The credits here say nothing about Voicebox. It simply says US Production was handled by 4Kids.
As well Voicebox doesn't list Sigma Six on their website. http://www.voiceboxproductions.com/index.html It's possible maybe whoever submitted that to ANN got mixed up with the DTV movies which Voicebox did do. |

Someone may have gotten confused with the DTVs, but I suspect it's also possible Voicebox did a pilot that was ignored once 4Kids picked the show up.
For what it's worth, this was ANN's source on Voicebox's involvement. Unfortunately, the link is dead and it wasn't archived. |

IIRC, they used some scenes from Valor vs Venom as flashbacks.

I've been looking into this and came across something interesting. A user on the Anime Superhero (formerly Toonzone) forums claims that Voicebox produced a dub used for the pack-in DVDs Hasbro bundled with the action figure line.
It sounds unlikely, but if true, isn't inexplainable. Hasbro was using Voicebox on their shows almost exclusively at the time and they handled the G.I. Joe pack-in movies/DTVs. Like I said earlier, I would not at all be surprised if Hasbro had initially contracted Sigma Six to Voicebox but bailed once 4Kids got involved. The latter completely redubbing shows already available in English would not be uncharted territory. The thing is, I'm not sure that comment is accurate. The guy seems to believe it's true, but I don't know about that. I can't find any other mention of the DVDs having a different dub. I had the Storm Shadow vs. Snake Eyes set as a kid and it came with a DVD. I remember that being the exact same dub that aired on 4KidsTV and YTV. Maybe they were only on select releases or perhaps this is false info that's been propagated for 15 years? |

The ANN entry's source listing is a long defunct link to the forums of the GI Joe fan site Joe Battle Lines:
http://forums.joebattlelines.com/viewtopic.php?t=1282 The forums are now down, and it doesn't look like the Internet Archive has a copy of it. You could always try emailing Voicebox and asking. Young me did... many years ago, and they answered a bunch of questions about Armada, Energon and Zoids: Fuzors. |

Yes, voicebox support works pretty well and they respond to letters pretty quickly
