That is a very good question, I've tried looking into this in the past myself as I was born & raised in South Florida. From what I've heard ever since the 1960's voice work in Florida was primarily known for English Dubs of Mexican movies (both live action & animated). I have heard of Anime English dubs done in Florida such as one of the B-Daman shows but I've also heard that they are mostly (if not entirely) made for the Asian markets such as India. So has there been a rise in Miami English dubs? Well then my interest is piqued.

The vast majority of voice work out of Alberta (for anime/animation/video games) comes from Blue Water Studios. I don't know when this happened exactly, but they expanded to Edmonton. I first noticed this with the original Cardfight Vanguard dub, which listed them as being located in Calgary/Edmonton. The studio had been based in Calgary since 1999. Initially, I thought they were moving and this was a show caught in transition ... but years later they're still credited as being in both cities.

I haven't seen a show from them that's Edmonton-only. I have noticed that Ocean's mixed pool dubs tend to only list Calgary as BW's location. I don't know if they actually only use Calgary and Vancouver based actors for those or if they just wanted shorthand. I haven't gone through their cast lists and picked out who's actually from Calgary vs. who's from Edmonton.

Buddyfight ended a few weeks back, so now we're down to two ongoing Canadian anime dubs: Bakugan in Toronto and Vanguard in Calgary/Edmonton. I think there's been more Miami anime dubs in the last year than Canadian ones ...

This has nothing to do with Vancouver VO, but I noticed a while back that Netflix added Difuze to their list of dubbing partners. They're the first Canadian studio to make that list. You've probably never heard of them since they launched just last year. They mainly do French dubs, but have already worked on some English projects like Racetime. One of their predecessors, Technicolor Montreal, dubbed the Supernatural anime for Warner Bros. a few years back. Would be fun to see the public react to the cast of Arthur doing some serious scifi anime or something.

That must've been a recent addition. What I find interesting is that both Cinelume and Difuze are listed as English-only. French would seem like the more obvious choice, as the two primarily do work in that language. Cinelume actually recorded a French dub of Mary and the Witch's Flower, which so far has been Netflix-exclusive.

Well, Lets not forget that Cinelume also did an English Dub Recording for Gon, which is shown in Terrence Scammell's Voice Acting Section that he voiced various characters in that show.

Yes, Cinelume has worked on a number of English projects over the years, including the Canadian dub of Astroboy '80s, The Bush Baby, Winx Club and Gon. However, their English output is miniscule compared to their French projects. I just found it odd how Netflix would pigeon hole them under one language and not even their dominant one.

Based on the YouTube views for the opening song (crazy how Dave Steele is still going strong!), I'm going to guess a lot of kids have checked out The Haunted House on Netflix. Hopefully, Ocean gets to work on more. There are a few more seasons, a movie and even a K-Drama!

DSM were also invited to the Crunchyroll Awards.

This may have been the 2009 Kimba TV movie. They dubbed it for The Japan Foundation (video footage from DSM's website). No idea if it'll be released in North America like their Black Jack dub was. None of the voices in that clip are recognizable to me.

Tobot: Galaxy Detectives debuted in the Philippines in September and earlier this month in Singapore. The credits are weird on that show. Athlon still hasn't shown up on any SVOD platforms yet, so it might be a while before this one gets a release that isn't chopped up on YouTube.

When Blue Water was established, you needed a fully fledged sound studio with a bunch of expensive professional equipment, an engineering staff, a directors booth, etc. to dub something. During the 2000s, this changed to the point where all you need is a soundproofed closet, a microphone and computer with Pro Tools, and everything else can be managed remotely over the internet. I think I've read VA comments that suggest NYAV Post's Los Angeles "studio" is a tiny little thing like that, and I expect the Edmonton studio is much the same.

I'm more concerned about Montreal. A lot of voice acting was done there in the 80s and 90s.

But then all the scandals killed Cinar.

"Arthur" (which is still airing) has turned into a Toronto/Montreal co-production.
