Out of total curiosity... what stuff are you using to record your voiceovers?
I'm new to recording voiceovers for still pics and video content. I just downloaded a free recording program and a cheap computer microphone to begin my trial and error process. Was wondering what programs, microphones and other equipment everyone else out there is using?! ![]() |

Most of us normally use Audacity for recording and editing.
And since I'm not pro, I just got a decent priced headphone/microphone combo from Logitech for about $40. You already mentioned the cheap computer mike you use which explains the low quality of your Voice This recordings. Unfortunate, since the voice and voice acting was really good ![]()

Yeah I too normally just use Audacity for recording and editting the recording clips as well.

Well, that's good to hear... because Audacity is exactly what I'd downloaded!

I hate audacity with a passion. I use Adobe Soundbooth for all of my audio recordings especially for my podcasting etc.

You're better off taking advice from Optimus, he has way more experience in this stuff than me. Also, I don't record that often so haven't delved into all the programs out there.

I usually record my clips using Freecorder. I use MergeMP3 if there are multiple ones I want to use (or, if another character interrupts a monologue, and it can be left out without affecting context, I record around that and then use MergeMP3 to put them together). I usually only use Audacity to amplify them if they're too quiet, or to cut out extra bits (like if the clip runs too long, I remove some silence or lines that aren't as good. Sometimes, a character starts talking at the end, so I cut that out too).
I have a microphone/headset, and they seem to work pretty well (though I don't have anything to prevent the P sound issue). Haven't checked which brand or company, though. And yes, you've gotten me curious about Adobe Soundbooth. More advanced? More useful features? |

Yeah, it's free and quite useful. Here's a link:
