Default "Aladdin" (2019)

Feel free to post your thoughts and discussion of Disney's live-action Aladdin remake here!

Very curious to see if they get Frank back for the Cave of Wonders or if they'll go for some other actor who can do a Dr. Claw voice.

I'm a little sad that what we've seen doesn't look as colorful as the animated movie.

It's not that I disagree with your statement, but... in the defense of the teaser, it is taking place entirely at night (save for two establishing shots of the desert at dusk).

But yes, with what we've seen so far, it does have that "dark n' gritty" vibe to it. The interior of the Cave of Wonders with all of the treasure is the part that looks most drab, sadly. With any luck this teaser won't be a representation of the movie's overall palette.

I also thought Aladdin's face looked a bit lifeless as he was reaching for the lamp. Shouldn't that be a pretty big, exciting moment? Not sure what to think of the actor yet.

I'm going to try not to get ultra-nitpicky yet, but I imagine this movie will turn out to be unremarkable. Not particularly good or bad, just passable. I'll wait for more footage to say anything else.

Yes, thank you! I also don't like to nitpick on these details, but I appreciate that you said it.
If I recall correctly, that shot was used in the trailer for the 1992 film...? So that was likely the motif for the producers to also use the shot. I hope the Film captures the same level of emotion that the animated film worked so hard to achieve.

The way Aladdin looks in this version looks like the way Sinbad looked in the classic Ray Harryhausen film "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad".

Sounds like Frank Welker is back as the Cave of Wonders. Will Iago be mute?

From my time on the Brazilian forum Dublanet, I learned that Will Smith's recurring dubber, Marcio Simoes, is also known for voicing the Genie. Could they get a reprisal there?

I don't know if anyone's quite nailed down 100% if they're just using archived dialogue of Frank's for this teaser or not. Like, it's very clearly probably Frank, but whether they're using recycled audio just for the trailer or will actually bring Frank back on remains to seen.

Totally didn't realize that Jasmine is the Pink Ranger from the 2017 Power Rangers movie...
