Default Casting Choices that Were Only Good on Paper?

Have you ever seen a casting choice that made you go 'oooohhhhhh this is going to be good!' but then you hear the performance and realize that something went very wrong? Here's a list of what I can think of off the top of my head:

-Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacey (Spiderman 2017)
- Julie Ann Taylor as Tenko Chibsura (Danganronpa V3)
- Johny Yong Bosch as Joseph Joestar (JJBA)
- Vic Mignogna as Rin Matsouka (Free!)
- Todd Haberkorn as Haru Nanase (Free!)
- Jamie Marchi as Gou Matsouka (Free!)
- Tara Strong as Harley Quinn (Any current projects )
- Cindy Robinson as Hinoka (Fire Emblem Heroes/Warriors)
- Cindy Robinson as Peri (Fire Emblem Heroes)

Any others?

Kind of harsh of a topic, but what the hell; let's get pro-wrestler style heat!

My choice so far:

Mena Suvari as Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2.

Most of the cast of Avengers Assemble.

I mean, I think a lot of it had to do with the material they so often have to work with, but coming off the Earth's Mightiest Heroes cast I do feel like what should be an All-Star cast is instead more of a step down.

How about... Michael Liscio Jr as Yugo?

He's clearly not phoning it in at all, but unfortunately he's directed to use this weird "Yusei Fudo" impression. And it really brings down his performance because of how unnatural it is a result.

A wonderful actor but Iím sorry she is without a doubt the weakest of the Bailey soundalikes.

Her Rise in Persona 4: Dancing All Night wasnít very good and the less said about MvC: Infinite the better.
In my eyes; the more Ashly does her own thing, the more it unintentionally sounds like Laura. Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy: Telltale, for example.

Such a classic inspirational story and both Hamill & Conroy could have, no SHOULD have knocked it outta the park in the roles for this iconic tale.

Instead we got two of the most blandest, weakest performances from the duo and it's a total shame.
Even the best voice directors in the business have their off days.
