Default Voice Actors Who Should Do More Serious Roles

We all love a good laugh every now and then, something to make us feel should the worst come, that's where voice actors like Tom Kenny come in.

One can pretty much argue he's the Weird Al Yankovic or Stephne Colbert of the voice acting community; but imagine this guy doing more serious roles, like if he were in The Last of Us?! I know that sounds like a stretch but it could work.

Rob Paulsen also seems to have had his fair share of doing more dramatic roles, his best example being Donatello in the new TMNT show, and yet he still manages to make a good laugh every now and then, so why not Tom Kenny?

This is why I'm asking you guys, which voice actor do you want to play more serious or dramatic roles?

Ben Diskin, Rob Paulsen, Quinton Flynn (technically, Raiden is intended to be a much more serious character with a very deep voice, but the dub misinterpreted it), Jason Marsden, Richard Horvitz.

Understandably, all these VA's sound somewhat similar.

& I guess there's Patrick Warburton, who as NCZ said, his voice is a character in & of itself.

Tom Kenny has a lot more range than people give him credit for, so I'd like to hear him try his luck with more serious roles, myself.

Rob Paulsen, too, he can also pull them off pretty well with the right director.

While he has said on numerous occasions that he is more comfortable with comedic roles, I do kind of wish Ian James Corlett could get more opportunities to do more dramatic roles.

Tom Kenny, Rob Paulsen, Weird Al Yankovic (Dollmaker), all of them have done some dramatic roles t some point in their career but I wouldn't mind hearing them do more.

Rob Paulsen, Gray Fox shows he could pull them off.

Oh yeah! Kinda expected a deeper VA there, but Rob's work on that is a pleasant surprise & tremendous show of his range. He specifically mentioned something like that on his podcast, that it was definitely one different role for him.

Kinda want more of that.

Definitely agree with Rob Paulsen. I'd love it if one day he was cast in a role that just came straight outta' left field. Like if was the new Starscream or Joker in a non-comedic/more serious portrayal.

How 'bout Lee Tockar?

He mainly plays comedic roles, but he was really great as Makuta & Vile.

And I'm sure his Frieza would've been great too.

Never thought about this, but considering that's basically the Freeza voice, it is interesting that several of us list Lee Tockar for that role.

Those are all tenor voices, so it wouldnt be like asking them to do, say, a Nolan North or even KMR-esque voice.
