Default Mario is Missing

Oh yeah, this thing.

Looking at the credits, there are six voices listed.

Kathy Fitzgerald
Rob Wallace
Bob Sorenson
Nicholas Glaeser
David Gill
Bruce Sandig

Kathy Fitzgerald is the only female voice actress in the game, so she'd be assigned to Peach.

David Gill's only credit was in this game, and there was a kid character in this game. It's not too hard to say that David was a kid when this was recorded, and he only was in this game before disappearing from Earth.

Bruce Sandig and Rob Wallace are video composers, so I bet it's going to be especially hard identifying whom these guys played.

Bob Sorenson and Nicholas Glaeser are both New York actors (along with Fitzgerald) that haven't been identified as any character yet.

I did however find a clip of Nicholas Glaeser as "Antonio the Barber" in a production he was in.

Clip (he's the barber talking about the land of the orange sky)

I figure that it sounds a bit like Mario..?

For Bob Sorenson, I've found a clip for him too (he's the maid in black). I figured he sounds either like Luigi or Toad.

For similar sounding characters, the aforementioned Luigi and Toad sound alike, as do Bowser and Larry Koopa.

I'll try and investigate more into these actors, as well as try and get info from Rob Wallace and Bruce Sandig. Feel free to help, and thanks!

I question to anyone who would know, are there a lot of background characters who have voiced lines? I figure what seems likely is that the Mario characters are played by the actual actors of the group and the composer fellows did background roles.

Isn't this the game that "You won't find adobe here in Nairobi" is from?

There are, actually.

Females:
Police Officer (Kathy Fitzgerald)
Teacher (Kathy Fitzgerald)

Males:
Mayor Sidley
Tourist (that sounds like Bubs from Homestar Runner)

I guess those who don't sound deep or like Bubs are Glaeser and Sorenson..?

There was also Yoshi, and.. he sounds ridiculous.

Yeah, OK. Honestly, without anything concrete to go off I don't know how far we can get with this one.

Yoshi's voice is just... wow.

Yoshi sounds just like the police officer. His voice has been electronically modified, but you can still hear that that is definitely a woman's voice. Yoshi = Kathy.

Yeah, I can hear where you're coming from, especially when the police officer says "HERE IN NAIROBI"..

I did have something that rosebr10 sent me, after asking him for clips of Soreson and Glaeser.

I know you said you wanted me to send you clips, but I did not make clips as I went along back then. Fortunately, another upload of the film on YT has been up for some time, so you can check that (assuming you live in a country that doesn't block it, at least)

Nicholas Glaeser (Sandy) (first appears at 24:37, first speaks at 24:54). Additional lines at 38:16 [w/Fitzgerald], 40:48.

Kathy Fitzgerald (Lana) (first appears at 24:35, first speaks at 24:47). Additional lines at 29:27 [w/Glaeser], 40:15 [w/Glaeser].

Bob Sorenson (Pierce Hammel) (first appears at 50:27 [man on the left in shorts], first speaks at 50:34). Additional lines at 1:09:24 [extended version of first appearance].

So basically Glaeser's the most natural selection for an Italian character of the 3, Sorenson's got that high pitch and crispness, and Fitzgerald, besides being token female, has a bit of a rasp.
With that said, I can probably say..

(source)

Nicholas Glaeser - Mario: His voice sounds remarkably similar to Mario (notably Mario's second voice, his quiet mafia gangster voice)

(source)

Bob Sorenson - Luigi: He has that high pitch crispy tone that could be easily attributed to Luigi's creepy tone in the game. He probably made his voice more cartoony. He could also be Toad too, since the inflections and tone in the movie he's in are quite familiar.

As for Bowser and Iggy, I don't think they're either Nick or Bob, so they'll be unknown at the moment until I can contact those composers.

I think you're right about Mario and Luigi. For what it's worth, Toad sounds like the same guy as Luigi to me.

Good luck on getting in touch with the composers. Great work so far.
