I always thought Tom Wyner's voice for Puppet Master sounded like a deeper version of Corey Burton's Brainiac.

I definitely like that first pairing. Lucina originally had a rather deep voice in the JP track, & Laura normally sounds pretty cutesy, but she makes it work really well. Batou (especially this younger one) I've felt should go to Fred Tatasciore, partially because (in this new series) he's voiced by Hulk & Daimon Baird. Maybe Alli Hillis for Motoko (Lightning is a very similar character & in fact she, too, shares a VA with this character). But I like what you've done with Laura & Travis.

I'm confused at DBB as Aramaki (& on the subject, Saito) as he's had quite a deep, aged baritone voice since the 95 movie. I like DBB but his voice is quite soft for this role. I was thinking maybe JK Simmons ala the Legend of Korra.

& I like what you did for Matthew Mercer as Togusa - he'd fit well with both a "younger Nolan" sound, as well as the classic "everyday police guy" that this character is. On that topic, Nolan is the first person I thought of dubbing over Togusa's Japanese actor, in other roles, like Spike Spiegel, as well. On that note, David (Nolan's character from TLoU) has Saito's JP VA dubbing over Nolan, funny enough.

Although I'm definitely liking the idea of Tim Daly doing this one...

I could talk about casting this series all day lol...

I'll be honest, my first picks for Motoko and Batou were going to be TV/Movie actors like Rosario Dawson or Morena Baccarin for Motoko, and Brian Bloom for Batou; Rose in particular since I'm a crazy fan of her.

But in the end I chose Laura and Travis for their actual husband and wife connection... even though the actual lead characters are not in any romantic relationship as far as I recall. But I gotta admit, Fred Tatasciore is probably a better pick for a younger, but still more experienced veteran type character, like Damon Baird in Gears of War.

As for DBB as Daisuke... yeah I guess you're right. I just thought I'd cast someone younger for this take on the character before he aged. Maybe I should have went with Jeff Bennett or maybe Bob Joles.

Ironically for Togusa in this newer show, I was actually gonna suggest Troy Baker, before switching to Matt :/

I proposed Rosario Dawson, since she voiced Artemis in Wonder Woman, and even Wonder Woman herself; as well as Nyx in TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast.

You can listen to some samples of her here, and you'll see why I initially thought of her as, Young Motoko voice.

Really like this one. I see someone like Matt Mercer better as Saito, & Maurice LaMarche or Troy Baker as Laughing Man.

Haven't seen the show though, only going by voice clips of the Japanese version.

Favorites as highlighted, though I don't think Erica Mendez is a Pre-Lay actress. (not yet at least)

This is the thing, though: there are thousands of actors auditioning for prelay stuff. Erica has done prelay work, there's no "official" amount of cartoon voices or whatever you have to do to become a "prelay VA" - everyone's doing it.

"Dub VAs" are only a thing because sadly dubs pay awfully & that restricts heavily on the budget.
