I found this site like 5 years ago but never became active because I'm a dude with an androgynous to feminine voice and I was embarrassed about wanting to voice female characters.
I'm a bit older now and decided if I enjoy it, I should just do it. I want to become active in the casting calls and the forums! ![]() Quick question; does updating my e-mail in the forum update my e-mail for the casting calls? If not, how do I do that? |

Hello!
Hello! My name is Zaya, otherwise known as Dear Meitantei VA! I'm 19 years old and I love anime, video games, and anime/video game abridged series. I've been watching anime for 9 years. I used to do voice acting lots, until I began taking testosterone (I am a transgender male, he/him), and my voice changed so much I decided to stop. I decided I really want to get back into it -- it brings me so much joy and it's just so much fun! I've been told by several people I do still somewhat have a feminine voice, so I may try for some female roles if I can get them, but I'm mostly going to stick to male roles! A bit about me personally: I'm in medical training school. Afterwords, I'm going to be a medical assistant! Besides watching anime and playing video games, I love to sing, draw, do photography shoots, write, and cosplay. My favorite anime is Code Geass, and my favorite video game is Danganronpa V3 (the whole franchise is absolutely lovely). Some other animes I absolutely adore just to give you a few: Meitantei Conan, Magic Kaito 1412, Durarara!!, Mirai Nikki, FullMetal Alchemist, Danganronpa, and Blue Exorcist. I look forward to meeting you and/or working with you all! ^.^ --Dear Meitantei VA (Zaya) |

Hey, all! I just thought I'd introduce myself before posting my first project! I'm a linguist (MA earned, PhD in the works) with a rather unusual hobby. I translate/adapt popular song lyrics into one or more of the languages I've studied over the years! My goal is always to take as few liberties as possible with the original meaning while still fitting the original rhyme scheme.
I particularly like to do this with ancient languages just to show that they can be just as fun as any contemporary tongue. The downside to that is, as difficult as it is to find performers to lend their talents to my adaptations in modern languages, it's doubly hard to find people willing and able to sing in dead languages. I have a BA in Spanish, but I also have at least some knowledge of French, Italian, German, Latin, classical Greek, and Old English. If you're curious about my work, please feel free to visit my YouTube channel. |

Hi. I'm new here.
Why am I interested in voice acting? Well I remember back in the 90s, I was watching Beast Wars, and when it came time to cut to commercials, the station had a quick bit where this guy in a cowboy hat came on and said, "Hi. I'm Scott McNeil and I voice Rattrap on Beast Wars. We're all gonna die!" Next commercial break it was David Kaye saying how he voiced Megatron, Yessss. Then the third time it was Scott again, saying how he voiced Dinobot. Now this blew me away, because Rattrap and Dinobot always argued with each other and it seemed hard to imagine that one guy could switch between two completely different voices at such a rapid pace. Also, Dinobot's voice in general was just so unique to me. You close your eyes and hear him speak and you know, "Yup, that's a dinosaur talking." And he made it sound natural, especially compared to the way shows like He-Man and She-Ra handled verbal tics. This inspired a life-long interest in voice acting. I also have a soft spot in my heart for the crew at Ocean Studios in Vancouver. Been using this site as resource for a few years. It's clean and simple and it has so very many shows. Now, I've been a fan of a show called Roswell Conspiracies: Aliens, Myths & Legends for a long time. It's a good show, but it's also really obscure. It has a similar premise to the Men in Black franchise, but I think this series is better. I came here and found to my surprise that the site doesn't have a page for it. After some hemming and hawing, I signed up and am now doing my part to make the page. Last edited by Will Keaton; 01-18-2020 at 08:14 PM. |

Hi everyone! My name is Julian, and I'm an aspiring artist! You can also call me J for short, aha.
I discovered 'Behind The Voice Actors' through recommendations on YouTube such as via Anna Brisbin (Brizzy Voices), and other voice actors and YouTubers. I'm so glad for that! It makes me really happy to know that a community like this exists and it's awesome! I've always been interested in voice acting, and it's so fascinating to me. I grew up a big fan of anime, and still am today. From my childhood tuning into Toonami, to being introduced to more anime through family and friends, it's all been an amazing journey so far, and one that has enticed me from the beginning. Glad to be a part of the BTVA community! I have many interests and all of them stem from something art or media related. My main passion is music, but I also love poetry, writing; be it stories and such, podcasting, acting and voice acting, photography, etc. What can I say? I just love art! Lol. Now is a crazy and uncertain time for the world. That said, I hope all of you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy in these hectic times. Art for me, not only is a passion, it's an escape and an outlet. In the midst of what's currently going on in the world, I've found myself working harder on my craft with everything, and pushing myself. I've been taking steps that I've planned to take before, but this time, progressing forward with them and not just stating to do so at some point. I thought why not do the same for voice acting and take a step forward with that? You never know if you don't try, and I thought I'd take the next step forward now, for life is uncertain, and living in the moment is something that I've been emphasizing more nowadays. I would love to become a voice actor. It's always been one of my dreams, and if I could have a role in anything, be it official or fan project, it'd be a dream. I hope to learn from some of you, befriend you, and work with you. This is my first post and I already feel a lot of warm energy coming from this community, and it's great. Glad to be here! P.S. Fun fact, I've only had one acting experience so far, and it was as a background actor/extra on the NBC show, 'Blindspot' in 2016. It was a surreal experience for sure and one that I'll never forget. - Julian (J) |
