I feel as if the few seperate english dubs have left a lot to be desired. Not that any of the english dubs are bad per se but they could've been better. So, here's my stance on an English dub provided by Funimation:

I don't want to get bashed for liking Nelvana's Vancouver dub, but they should have left the job to Toronto.

You know I am surprised Nelvana didn't keep Cardcaptors Sakura in Toronto. Granted I don't think the dub would've turned out any more different if it was done anywhere, it just wasn't handled that well the dub.

I've wondered that myself. Every other anime series Nelvana has been involved with has received a local dub. Typically speaking, Nelvana shows only go to Vancouver if there's a Vancouver animation company involved (Class of Titans = Studio B, Hot Wheels: Battleforce 5 = Nerd Corps). My only guess is that they didn't want Cardcaptors to sound like Sailor Moon? Kids WB was heavily involved with that dub, so maybe they wanted production closer to them?

What's funny is that DiC pretty much left Toronto for Vancouver by that decade when it came with its cartoons so you'd think they would hand it over to Ocean and Cloverway would continue with Westwood Studios. That would be nuts cuz it's be a complete parallel of DBZ during that time

The latest I heard from Nelvana/Vancouver was Brian Drummond in something called "Wishfart". Apparently they were going to record the whole series in Vancouver, but they liked Drummond's performance so much that they kept him.

And Nelvana only leaves Canada for co-productions like "Backyardigans" [both American and British versions], "Clone High", "Fresh Beat Band", or "Bubble Guppies". [Fairly OddParents doesn't count, even though the earlier seasons are still owned by Nelvana outside the USA.]

For a female Toronto VA for Syaoran Li, I would cast Tracey Moore.

So far, from what I gather, the only uncut English dub for
the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime TV series (not Clear Card)
is the one that aired on Animax.
This Animax dub hasn't been well-received, from what I hear.
If some studio had decided to do a redub to replace this dub, this would be my Dream Cast.
The Netflix redub of Neon Genesis Evangelion was what partially inspired me to do this Dream Cast.

Imagined Release Date: 1 June 2020, the date that Cardcaptor Sakura was added to Netflix in the USA and Canada.
I imagine the redub to be used for Netflix and other streaming services.
I also imagine the redub to be included all subsequent video releases from that date onwards.
