Who could pull off a Gintama Dub?

I recently reached the 100 episode milestone of the anime series Gintama.
It's one of my favorite shows, which says a lot, since I usually prefer dubbed anime. That said though, not a single day goes by on which I don't wonder which anime voice actors could possibly pull off a Gintama dub. After much contemplation, this is what I came up with:

Gintoki - Ian Sinclair

Why? This might be a strange choice, since Ian Sinclair usually has kind of "awkward" roles. But his voice acting in Space Dandy greatly reminds me of Gintoki Japanese voice actor usually talkes. If he would use the rather low-pitched voice he uses in that series, or in another series like e.g. Toriko, and add a little boredom to it, he'd be a perfect fit.

Shinpachi - Bryce Papenbrook

Why? This role contains a lot of shouting. Something Bryce Papenbrook should be used to, considering his role as Eren in AoT. Plus, Shinpachi's voice is just basically the voice of a regular midteen schoolboy, a voice which reminded me of Bryce Papenbrook's role as Red from Pokemon Origins

Kagura - Jad Saxton

Why? Kagura is basically Haruna from "Is this a zombie?". This was a very easy choice ;3

Katsura - Johnny Yong Bosch

Why? Johnny Yong Bosch is well-known for his slightly more serious characters, such as e.g. LeLouch from Code Geass or Rossiu from Gurren Lagann. Katsura takes himself way to serious all the time, so I think letting him be voiced by Bosch could turn out pretty good

Otae - Colleen Clinkenbeard

Why? She's a strong female character. Shouldn't this be obvious?

Sarutobi - Brina Palencia

Why? Because who could play a stalker girlfriend better than Mirrai Nikki's Yuno?

Hijikata - Robert McCollum

Why? Everything of Hijikata reminds me of Kogami from Psycho-Pass. Robber McCollum'd be the best VA for Hijikata.

Sogou - Todd Haberkorn

Why? Sogou's one of the youngest Shinsengumi members, and while hijikata's voice is rather low-pitched his voice is clearly that of a young adult. I think this contrast could be best replicated if Todd Haberkorn starred next to Rober McCollum. Also because I like Todd Haberkorn.

Kondo - Vic Mignogna

Why? Okay, this might be a bit of a stretch. Kondo has a unique voice, and so does Vic. It's hard to describe, but they're both a bit "throaty" if needs be, and they both can very easily transcend into more loud, shouting version of themselves. If Vic could do his Edward Elric voice, but a bit more low-pitched, I think it'd turn out alright.

Kyubei - Caitlin Glass

Why? Boy that turns out to be a girl? That's basically Haruhi from Ouran Highschool Host Club. Caitlin Glass it is.

Madao - Steve Blum

Why? Well... he has a low-pitched voice... and he's badass.... sort of? Okay, you caught me, I just wanted to put Steve Blum in here. Patrick Seitz would probably be a more realistic choice.

So, fellow Gintama followers (if there are any besides me), who do you think could voice these characters best? I'm very curious to hear about your ideas :3

PS: Yes, I know FUNimation dubbed the Gintama movie, but I hope I'm not the only one when I say that dub was "eh" at best.

Actually it was Sentai Filmworks that dubbed the Gintama Movie not FUNimation.

I think BangZoom could do a good job with Gintama. Here's who I've though of so far:

Ancient but I just finished the 3rd Season so I figured I could make an extensive-ish one. Also seems appropriate since Gintama is getting a dub eventually (though it will probably be Funimation due to Crunchyroll and Funi's partnership). My dream is LA union though.

Incidentally, BlueHeracross, mine has a lot of similarities to you. Like, a lot. Great minds think alike.

Gintoki is voiced in Japanese by Tomokazu Sugita, who Matt has dubbed like 3 times (Fire Emblem, Xilia, Gargantia), & in fact they sound quite similar. Even in other dubs, like as Kaz from MGS, his dub VA sounds similar to Matt. That being said. I think Nolan North would work as Gintoki pretty well. I kinda wanted Nolan as Joseph Joestar (also voiced by Sugita). & I do notice you really seem to like Josh Keaton. I happen to like him for Spectacular Spiderman & an easy name.

I admit, I like Josh, but the reason why I cast him so often is soley because he's made such a big name for himself as the token "Young Male Lead Protagonist" and he seems to have perfected it, even more so than Jason Marsden and Will Friedle, hence why EVERYBODY casts him over the other two most often.

Honestly, I'd rather cast someone different and give Josh a break from the lead role. ^^;

I believe we've disussed on Reddit that this is going to be union in Vancouver, aka THE most expensive dubbing option (that isnt flat-out paying animation rates like Ghibli or Laws of the Universe). If this were union in LA, I believe the castings would be a but more diverse than that. New Generation Pictures & NYAV seemed to be pretty diverse, as is Studiopolis.

I havent seen this show outside the old Jump printing...it was before the anime even released, so it was impossible to localize that well.

I hear a lot of praise for Sugita's performance, but I only ever read the comics, so yeah..

As a gag casting, I would use Billy West, seeing as this show is like the Japanese equivalent of Futurama.

John DiMaggio would in fact be a legit Hijikata actually, as a counterpart to Kazuya Nakai (Wakka & Gilgamesh).

I'll make a list of my own after actually watching this series.

He's like the JYB of Hollywood animation, is what you're saying. I do like him, however Gintoki is pretty clearly a baritone role. & I dont think Josh & Matt sound anything like each other lol
