I’m sure it’s unlikely but maybe actors from the anime will reprise their Pokémon. Even if some people don’t like the current actors, it’d be nice for them to get to a chance to be in a big movie.

I think this looks like it could be a good movie, and I actually like the effects and Pokemon designs quite a bit. Pikachu looks freaking adorable in this, IMO more than he ever was in 2D animation, but that's just me. However, I do have to say that I'm not that excited about Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu. It's just feels like Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds, and with Deadpool and everything, I feel a bit overexposed to him and his mannerisms lately.

I definitely think it would have been funnier and interesting to hear a voice even more unfitting to Pikachu's appearance than Reynolds, like how people were wanting Danny DeVito and such before.

Anyway, it looks interesting, but I can't say I feel too strongly one way or the other about it yet.

Until the film comes out and gives some reason as to why Pikachu sounds like it's 40-something years old, and we get a deeper understanding of Pikachu's character, I would agree with you on Ryan Reynolds; as cool as he is. I'll still be reserving judgement for now though.

It had been almost two decades since Warners last distributed a Pokémon movie.

They've got Bill Nighy (as in Davy Jones, not the Science Guy), singer Rita Ora (she's very successful in her native UK), and Omar Chaparro (Mexican comedian; Latin Spanish voice of Po the panda and Syndrome) in the cast.

I'd say I'd be surprised but then I just now remembered that the first TMNT films, and even Who Framed Roger Rabbit got away with a couple damns and hells, and then there's Tim Burton's Batman which a lot of kids did watch just fine so I guess Pokemon is capable of slipping in that kind of language just as well.
