Re: Are Vancouver dubs going to go extinct?

Not sure if this makes a difference, but San Francisco isn't 100% new to dubbing anime. They dubbed the SaiKano series, and the JOJO's Bizarre Adventure OVAs. That's not much at all, but I have to...

Re: Are Vancouver dubs going to go extinct?

Completely agreed. I'd love there to be more Canadian and British, and maybe Australian-New Zealander dubs of anime and other stuff. I don't think too many new dubbing scenes are going to come about...

Re: Dubs that never aired in the country where they were produced

Wait, that's what they did? ****. I remember hearing about an olden dubbing scene in Rome, so I assumed they meant olden edited anime? Guess I was wrong. Sorry to disappoint.

I was referring...

Re: Dubs that never aired in the country where they were produced

IIRC Miami dubs are basically successors to Animax Asia/ Odex dubs. Some of them are regionfree and online, but a few are not. It's also worth noting they've dubbed non-Japanese cartoons, and usually...

Re: Gunbuster English Dub

By the time it got popular in English-speaking countries, the split audio tracks were lost to time. If a dub is made, they'll have to redo the sound effects and use rips of the OST.

Re: Are Vancouver dubs going to go extinct?

I'm all for Montreal getting to be allowed to dub anime once more. Of the four major Canadian talent pools (Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto are the other ones) it's easily the most underrated (even...

Re: History of Canadian voice acting

Ahh, that's where i messed up; I used figures for native speakers AFAICT. I do concede what you mean about Kitchener.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Various

Lemme throw my hat in the Twilight Princess ring.

Each role is cast in this order: Vancouver, San Francisco, New York City, Tokyo. Tbh i'd love to put in Seattle as well, but it's difficult to...

Re: "Two Actors Share One Role Therefore They Should Share Multiple Roles"

To be fair, if it's a live action performance, i can see why it's done. It would be surreal to see the same person talk with multiple unique voices, even if all of them were some variation of one...

Re: Are Vancouver dubs going to go extinct?

Between this and IMB's thread on Asian English dubs, i'm wondering if i should do a post/ thread on dubs across the Anglosphere? The only other language that seems to have this situation as well is...

Re: What’s the deal with William Winckler?

Stands for "Hollywood no Kenshiro".

Anyway, i'm going to see his other work before completely dismissing him as a hack (considering he has a decent resume acting-wise, if nothing else)....

Re: What’s the deal with William Winckler?

Read that, and he seems like a mess. To his credit, his brand of localization isn't far off from many people's thoughts, as insulting and unfaithful as it is. EDIT: Don't get me wrong, i hate his...

What’s the deal with William Winckler?

Recently, due to a posting of his Kenshiro performance, William “HOLLYWOOD” Winckler has been getting a lot of vitriol and jokes lobbed at him. I’m not going to pretend he doesn’t deserve any of it...

Re: Voice Actors who look like other people

Peter Cullen reminds me of Zeke Smith from Survivor: Gen X vs. Millennials.

I haven't seen that season, but i've read the TvTropes character page if it helps.

"I'd watch the dub if the English acting was as good as the Japanese."

One...
