Good Guys
Spider-Man / Peter Parker - Patton Oswalt
*I feel that modern depictions of the character have become too wimpy; the movie versions especially seem to go too far with his emo side and make him into someone who seems unlikely to do the stuff he's capable of doing, not to mention someone rather difficult to really look up to. With my casting of Oswalt, I want to return Spider-Man to who he was originally meant to be, namely a hero who in all truths has gone through some crap in his life, but doesn't let all that get in the way of his life and even uses humor to brighten the situation up a little. Oswalt's sarcastic, cynical tone in his comedy really does give the impression of somebody with a pessimistic outlook on life and maybe even some personal problems (including attempts to wean himself off Prozac) but still has the power to see the funny side of things, and I think that's the kind of edge that Spidey needs to give him new life as well as bring him back to his roots.

*From what I've read about the character of Doc Ock, while he can be a formidable villain, he has a bit more humanity than others: he's overweight, myopic, a bit of a mama's boy and has been shown to enjoy Aunt May's company. I thought Wayne Knight would be a suitable choice for the character because he has experience playing villainous roles and just as often has played dumpy, nerdy types, which makes him more able to voice a character who can be a competant bad guy at some moments and a down-to-earth, maybe even relatable guy at others.

Venom / Edwina "Eddie" Brock - Grey DeLisle
*The character in the comics was originally intended to be female, but the editor vetoed the idea because it was assumed that a female with fangs wouldn't be scary. Since that mindset would hold zero water in this day and age, I figured there's nothing really stopping Venom from being a female villain as originally conceptualized. Besides, the male-female character ratio in this series is imbalanced enough as it is.

Lizard / Doctor Curt Connors - Bruce Campbell
*Bruce Campbell was speculated to play the Lizard in Spider-Man 4 before the film series was rebooted.

Spider-Man 2099 Dream Cast
 

So ... let's say there's a Spider-Man 2099 animated series. Sure, there almost was one in the late '90s before it was turned into "Spider-Man Unlimited". And sure, S-Man has showed up in two recent video games. But if it were up to me to cast the series, I'd base it heavily on the comics, and I'd make sure that the title character isn't just seen as Peter Parker with a different costume. As much as I liked seeing S-Man in the "Shattered Dimensions" and "Edge of Time" video games, I wouldn't want to cast an actor who's already played Spider-Man, because the temptation would be to read the word "Spider-Man" in the script and slip into his Peter Parker acting instincts.

Notice that with one exception, any character that has the name of a twentieth-century character -- Vulture, Loki, Venom, Punisher, etc. -- has been cast with an actor who has not played the twencen counterpart. To my knowledge, anyway. The exception is Doom, who was voiced by Simon Templeman in the '90s Fantastic Four cartoon. This was deliberate, since there's a mystery of whether or not the Doom of 2099 is the same person as Victor Von Doom in the twentieth century. This way, he just might be right when he claims he is.
