  1. Autovolt

Origins dub wasn't that great honestly.

the actors in it are usually used to be in better dubs than a lot of TCPI VA's but honestly most performances outside of Lucien Dodge and Jamieson Price (those two were great as Blue and Giovanni) were generic.

JYB as Brock could be good if he was anime Brock. game Brock doesn't have much personality.

Kyle Hebert was miscast Oak...as much as it pains me to say it. JCC did at least try to have some emotion.

Bryce as Red....just sounded off to me. Erica Mendez should have been Red IMO.

Yes, his narration was just epic.

Oh, yes. Speed Racer had the totally fast delivery, but let's face it, it was what made the show appealing (plus, it was a show about racing, so it made sense).

But yes. Fernandez was just so great as Speed. I also liked Jack Grimes (second Jimmy Olsen on radio) as Sparky and Chim Chim.
  3. Autovolt
    nice but yeah.
  4. Autovolt
I only like Sinnoh's dub for Dawns' VA.

she was one of the great voices in an absymal dub.
  5. Starscreamsfan
    Totally. I love Woodson's narration.

Yes, if only dubs had all the actors in the booth reacting to one another, I think I would like them more.

Yes, I always found interesting how the whole process was. And even if there wasn't a lot of ad-libbing, it was good to see that the actors and the recording director helped each other in giving ideas on how to perform or deliver the lines without harming the timing, and I think that's what made this show great. The dialogue timing is almost flawless for a production without the videoscreen!!!

I'm also a big fan of those dubs that were done in the 60's (Astroboy, Kimba and Speed Racer).

Yeah, it's pretty awesome for the time. It was directed by one of my favorite recording directors of all time, which was Alan Dinehart (who played Tiny in here, who is my favorite character of the team).

Incidentally, here's the intro of the dub (and yes, that totally is Bill Woodson doing the narration):

Ah, that's totally understandable. I feel a lot of dubs after the Battle of the Planets dub (which was actually done ensemble instead of using one performer at a time) are missing a lot of chemistry.

Here's a pic of some of the main cast (no Ronnie Schell, unfortunately) recording together and having fun:

From L to R: Director Alan Dinehart, Casey Kasem, Janet Waldo, Alan Young and Keye Luke.

And here's an interesting article about the recording (and there's the cast picture on the corner):

  7. Autovolt
I don't have a personal favourite but i thought Hoenn was the strong point in terms of performances.
  8. Autovolt
    pretty much.
  9. Autovolt
    yeah they're all awful.

Bonnie sounds a lot like Sarah Williams except not good and Clemont sounds way too old and deep especially compared to Yuki Kaji.
  10. Starscreamsfan
Yes, he was very humble and delightful.

Say, from your "about me" section, I see that you're another anime fan. I'm not a big anime buff, but I have a favorite dub and it's this one. It features a lot of radio veterans, which is the reason why it's my favorite dub of all time:

    Featuring the voices of:
    Alan Dinehart
    Casey Kasem
    Keye Luke
Michael Rye (You heard that right!!! He did anime!!!)
    Ronnie Schell
    Janet Waldo
    Bill Woodson
    Alan Young
